  • Just what we were looking for

"We were looking for a place with nicer weather than NC in February that we could bring the dogs and drive to in one day and decided to try here. It's a great house with a wonderful location. For us the very low population density of this region is a great plus. The view from the front of the house and the deck is hard to beat. We went out on the deck every evening to watch the sun set and were treated to the additional treat of watching the moon rise over the water to the southeast. The next to the last night was a full moon, gorgeous. There is very little light pollution at night so the view of the stars is wonderful. The house is comfortable, clean and has mostly everything you'll need. Lois is very easy to work with and quite responsive. The area has lots of nature trials and is extremely dog friendly. The dogs and I had a nice walk on the beach in front of the house every day. Carrabelle is only a few minutes away and though not fancy the IGA and Dollar General have a decent selection of necessities. Millender's Seafood is a nice resource for fresh fish, crab and an outstanding smoked mullet dip. The Fisherman's wife restaurant got our business several times, again not fancy but good food. St George Island and Apalachicola are a little less than a half hour away with more nice restaurants and shops. The Owl Cafe and Oyster City Brewing Co. are worth visits. We stayed two weeks and could easily have been happy staying longer."

  • Relaxing family getaway for our extended family!

"Our extended family of 10 (along with our young dog) enjoyed every moment of our visit to Alligator Point. The house itself was absolutely perfect for our needs. It was clean, comfortable, and well-appointed! The kids loved that it came stocked with books, games, and beach toys, as well. The adults could not get enough of the outdoor living spaces with plenty of seating for all! Of particular note, we loved the separate downstairs living area; it was great for the family members with kids and a dog. The location made for an incredibly relaxing, slow-paced vacation. We enjoyed long walks on the beach, dolphin watching, and shell collecting. We loved the private boardwalk from the house to the beach that made access easy and convenient. The night time brought the best star gazing we have encountered anywhere in the south and a beach bonfire that was one of the highlights of our trip! Even though we felt like we were away from it all, we were able to get excellent seafood with just a short drive and part of the family enjoyed a trip to the small Gulf Aquarium. Linda, Lisa, and Leah were incredibly responsive to our needs. They were quick to respond to calls and emails and enthusiastically answered every question that we had pertaining to our stay. We sincerely hope that we can make another trip to Ship 2 Shore in the very near future. Thank you for an incredible vacation!"

  • Beautiful, peaceful location

"My husband and I were headed to southwest Florida when we learned the red tide was really bad at our planned destination. It was also uncertain at that point where Hurricane Matthew was going to land. So we made a last minute change in plans and booked this location. We are so happy we did! It is an awesome location. Daily, we saw dolphins rounding up the mullet for dinner, a shark once, a puffer fish, a bald eagle and countless osprey, herons, egrets, shore birds and gull-like birds from this home. The home is nestled among the live oaks, palms, pines and laurels right on a narrow tidal marsh. My husband launched his kayak daily (just a 20 step walk thru the marsh grass) to go fishing in the flats. It gets afternoon shade and a beautiful gulf breeze. The view is beautiful. The home had everything we needed with a fully stocked kitchen, two flat screen televisions and a super comfortable bed. Our hosts were awesomely accommodating and easy to reach. Thanks so much to Kris and her team for pulling it together for us on such short notice! The fresh flowers, inside and out, were a great touch! We have rented lots of homes through VRBO and is the first home to ever have room to put away our things! The empty cabinet/pantry space in the kitchen was so appreciated! In the bedroom, there were empty shelves to store our clothes, towels, etc. This is a great location to venture out to discover the area. We visited Wakulla Springs, where we saw alligators, manatees and lots of birds. We took a boat up the St Mark's River, where we saw lots of birds, including king fishers and bald eagles, and an alligator. We rode down Bottom's Road, where we saw Wood Storks and Roseate Spoonbills (and bald eagles). Bald Point State Park has a beautiful white sand beach! Mineral Springs Seafood is a great place to purchase fresh seafood. The folks in there are super nice! If you go there, get some of the stuffed scallop bacon wrapped dip - yum. Hutton's Seafood (food truck) has really good shrimp dip. Mad Anthony's is a great place to eat out. I would recommend this spot if you are looking for a comfortable home with privacy and peace and quiet with lots of places to go explore. Thanks again to Kris and her team!!!"
