  • Wonderfully peaceful!

"It was my first trip to Hawai'i, and I wanted a nice, quiet place at which to recharge, and from which to explore other parts of Maui. I found this location through the VRBO website and was very pleased with my selection. It was an easy 25 minutes drive from Kahalui, and only 15 minutes from the small town of Paia and nice north-side beaches. The owner was very helpful on my first day in orienting me by phone, letting me know of a local grocery store in Paia and some surrounding attractions. The beaches were not busy, the water clear, with big waves (but not too big for swimming!), and some beaches are dedicated to surfing only. This location was close to the famous Mama's Fish House (I recommend booking restaurants via the Open Table app, or calling ahead, as there is always a waitlist otherwise), and an easy drive to other areas of the island. Kaanapali is only about 1 to 1.5 hours' drive from here. Very do-able on any day where it's raining in Haiku but not on the other side of the island. The property was well-kept, everything worked (plumbing, hair dryer, fridge, lights, etc), and it had the beginnings of a self-sustaining vegetable garden, and eco-friendly atmosphere. Each unit here (I think there were three guest suites, and one unit for the property manager) had its own parking space. The one-bedroom I rented was pleasantly decorated with colorful waves and fish. It fit nicely with the feel and energy of the island. And the little yurt was a good space in which to do yoga when I sorely needed some quiet, stretching time, surrounded by lots of light and a pleasant breeze. I didn't use the pool since I went to the beach each day, but it was nice to have nearby. I'd consider staying here again."

  • Perfect Oasis

"Having never been to Maui I was a little leery to be off the beaten tourist path in up country, however, the location turned out to be perfect. Within a short drive of Pa'ia and Haiku, there are plenty of excellent restaurant choices (make sure to book a reservation at Mama's Fish House ... best meal of our trip). The other benefit of the location is the proximity to the road to Hana (really the property is right at the beginning) and a large number of hikes that would otherwise be an hour drive from the typical beach properties in the south and west of Maui. The property is set in a lush rain forest area that was terrific for the kids (5 and 10) to explore. The lanai provided a great spot to have a coffee in the morning or read a book at night. The house itself was very well done. The large family room area was the perfect place to relax and watch some Netflix at night."

  • The property on the outside could be upgraded, possibly a coat of paint.

"The description as to the location of the condo was very accurate. Although we were somewhat disappointed at the appearance of the condo from the outside when we first arrived, it was a pleasant surprise when we entered the condo. Inside the condo was very relaxing. The kitchen was well equipped, loved the coffee mugs, and the beds were very comfortable. We did not spend much time at the condo. During our short stay in Maui we drove up the volcano, spent time in Kihei, Lahaina, Paia and found a few beaches. The owner, Nancy, was very attentive making sure our stay was memorable."

  • Great private place to stay!

"We enjoyed our stay for 3 nights. Janice has all the local scoop on the important stuff. Food and beach are both close. Easy parking for your car. Property feels private - view of the ocean and farm animals. Would not hesitate to go back."
