  • Great Location and great house

"The house was located in a nice rustic location near Seal Harbor. Great views of the ocean and a nice safe place for children. Close to Acadia National Park and reasonably close to Bar Harbor. Plenty of space for a large group and nice fireplace. Just for full disclosure cell phone service is pretty spotty (I have Verizon so i don't know for other companies). Very nice and large kitchen with all the equipment you need to cook meals large and small, nice grill for outdoors cooking. Overall a great experience that I would recommend to anyone."

  • Great views and proximity to Acadia without the tourists

"Great views and location. Sunsets from the deck are unbelievable. Everything there that you need to have a great vacation. Lobstermen start working at 0430 right outside the bedroom. Great place to stay if planning on hiking Acadia. Close to many trails and not as "touristy" as Bar Harbor."

  • The pictures don't lie!

"My husband and I had a lovely stay at this peaceful home. The pictures are not in the least deceptive. It really is that close to the ocean! We heard maybe two cars a day. Otherwise, the only manmade sound we heard were the lobster boats out on the bay. We could even hear the lobstermen talking on the boats! The neighbors homes are close, but you don't see them because the trees hide them and we really didn't hear the neighbors at all while we were there. The full kitchen is awesome and so easy to prepare meals in! There is plenty of outdoor seating and it's very easy to spend the day just watching the ocean. Chaise lounges would be a welcome addition to the outdoor seating because it's an ideal setting to nap and relax the day away. The house was clean and welcoming and had everything we needed. Check your cell coverage before you arrive because there is no landline or internet, so if you have no cell reception(like us) you may want to buy an inexpensive Tracfone just for emergencies. We have rented a lot of homes in a lot of places but have never, ever stayed in one that we would consider returning to, until now. We are hopeful that we will return to this clean, quiet, peaceful location again."

  • great views, peaceful setting, and room for the entire family

"Cook's Cottage is a great place to stay. We often have trouble finding enough king and /or queen sized bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate our entire family, and they provided the linens and towels, which was great! Nothing better than arriving after a long day (or two) of traveling to find a welcoming home, and the beds already made! The house also has a wonderful sun porch which was our family's favorite gathering spot, and it had a table that would seat our whole family. The roof deck offers great views of the harbor and the stars at night. Winter Harbor is a peaceful place to stay, while still being within easy reach of Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park (Mount Dessert Island), Finback Alehouse, and other points of interest. We also explored the Schoodic side of Acadia National Park, and took the Schoodic Ferry into Bar Harbor one day – the departure dock is right down the street from the house, which was great. Maine was gorgeous, and this house is great. Thank you!"
