  • Cottage retreat with beautiful sunsets!

"Rustic but well equipped cabin with the best lot on the lake. Expansive beach in a perfect cove that blocks the wind & provides gorgeous views! Perfect water for swimming. Lovely & very friendly neighbors. Cabin has everything you need, including games, pots & pans, dishes, linens, towels, kayaks for 3, paddleboards, a great firepit, and picnic table. Come prepared for no washer or dryer though. And possibly no internet or phone, depending on your service. An easy drive to Acadia & BarHarbor. Looking forward to coming again!"

  • Wonderful and relaxing stay with our family!

"This property is very clean and well-maintained. Everything was provided (linens, everything you would need for the kitchen, washer and dryer.) The bedrooms were very spacious. The front porch was used to relax in the evenings/mornings- reading books, sipping coffee, or as a playroom for the kids. The owners were readily available to answer any of our questions and were so kind. We loved the location. We were able to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park during the day but have a quiet place to return to in the evenings. We also enjoyed watching the sun set at Schoodic Point which is also part of Acadia National Park near Winter Harbor (only a short drive away). The town is quaint and all the locals we came in contact with were friendly and willing to suggest restaurants, places to buy lobster, and must see attractions while staying near the Bar and Winter Harbor areas. We also enjoyed checking out DVD's to watch movies in the evening at the local library (only a 2 minute walk away from the house). We are already planning our next trip to Maine. And we will definitely plan on staying in Smallidge House again!"

  • A slice of heaven!

"Our expectations, based on photos and the referral of friends, were exceeded. The property is professionally manicured with a sprawling lawn, gardens, all leading to Frenchmans Bay, a short stroll away to a rocky coastline with pier and fire pit. We felt like we were in a magazine setting. We stayed in the larger Gate House. It was immaculate and gracious, the kitchen equipped with everything from lobster pot to crock pot, screened in porch, lovely outdoor deck with comfy furnishings and table. We were greeted with 3 fresh cut bouquets from the gardens. A property worker brought us tomatoes from her garden. Bar Harbor and an entrance to Acadia are 10-15 minutes away. Great location! Realtor Sally Black was very attentive."

  • Great house!

"The Rusticator is a perfect house for a family vacation in Acadia. It is a short walk to all of the shops and restaurants in Bar Harbor, and a short drive to Acadia. You can even walk from the front door of the house to the top of Cadillac Mountain (only 4 miles away) by hopping on the Great Meadow trail that is about 1/2 mile away. The house is clean and well maintained, and the kitchen is perfect for cooking large meals with room for everyone to help out."
