  • Nature at its finest ... with creature comforts

"Tucked into the side of a peaceful, wooded peninsula jutting out into tranquil Sandy Pond, this well loved and impeccably maintained cabin provided a perfect Maine retreat. Highlights included: Strolling to 'the Point' and sipping morning coffee as the eagles soared effortlessly above. Swimming in the pristine, refreshing lake water and drying off on the massive, sun-warmed boulders. Exploring the unique corners of the lake by kayak in the morning calm ... and by sparkling moonlight. Biking the scenic and rolling country roads. Relaxing in the hot tub while entertained by near constant activity at the perfectly located bird feeder. Gathering fantastic local farm produce and seafood during sightseeing trips to the coast and nearby villages. Reading by the flickering fireplace on a rainy afternoon. Toasting amazingly beautiful and ever-changing sunsets at 'the Point'. Eating simple dinners on the enclosed summer porch with the surrounding treetops subtly and beautifully lit. Falling asleep to rustle of the breeze through the trees and the periodic call of the resident loons. The cabin was as attractive, comfortable and efficient as described by the owner, Paul, and other reviewers. Monica, the cabin manager, was very welcoming and helpful. We would highly recommend this property to those seeking a perfect mix of pristine lakeside nature and country living close to wonderful sight seeing on the Maine coast. We hope to return someday!"

  • A Favorite

"We love this cottage and have stayed there twice now. A bit on the small side, but perfect for 2 people. Very neat and clean and comfortable with all the amenities you could want. We love to sit on the deck and watch the tide come and go right below our feet. And you can't find a better location. Just steps from town and from the foot bridge. Close to everything but on a quiet street. Lots of things to see in the area also, such as a beautiful botanical garden and less than an hour to Freeport and outlet shopping. Next visit to Boothbay, we will naturally stay there again."

  • Great Location and House

"We rented this house for a week long stay with our family of 4 and my SIL and her husband. The 6 of us were very comfortable in the house. It has plenty of room for privacy but a living area comfortable enough to accommodate all 6 of us. The house was clean and had everything we needed for the stay. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking (pots, pans, knives, etc). I greatly appreciated that the house is nicely decorated but isn't cluttered so there is plenty of room for your stuff without it getting lost in a sea of knickknacks. The town is a comfortable and easy walk and the grocery store is a short drive away. We enjoyed being a little out of town on the lake where it was quiet and peaceful. The lake is wonderful for swimming and we even rented kayaks for a few days on the lake. The owners are friendly and checked in to be sure we had everything we needed but respectfully gave us our space as well. We were very happy with out stay. And we had our security check returned in a timely manner. I would highly recommend this rental and we would be happy to stay here again if we didn't live on the West Coast."

  • The Perfect Vacation Gem!

"Wow, where to start! My husband and I rented this condo for a week with a friend and we were pleasantly surprised to find that everything that was in the description was accurate and then some. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms clean and modern. The upstairs balcony seating area is perfect for morning coffee and for evening drinks. The deck on the ground floor is spacious and very comfortable for hanging out. A perfect space for early morning yoga and meditation. My Mum joined us from Monday evening through Friday morning and slept on the sleeper sofa. She said it was very comfortable and woke to the sound of seagulls in the morning. The house was filled with all of the amenities to cook a meal, or not. We dined in many great restaurants and our favorites were Mine Oyster and the Boathouse Bistro Tapas Lounge & Rest. The top deck of the Boathouse Bistro was fabulous and you can see the house from this roof top. Walking distance to town was a big plus. One may think that there would be a lot of noise drifting over the bay to this condo. This was not a problem at all. The only noise we ever heard were seagulls in the morning and some evenings, live bands would be playing in restaurants. This music was not loud, and always was finished by 9 or 10 PM. We brought our bikes and rode on many roads that lead out of town and never felt that this was a problem for us or for traffic. We also found a great park less than five minutes away for swimming; Barrett's Park. We had picnics in this park many times and swam at low and high tides. (On the last day, we noticed that there was a clock in the living room that showed the tides...) When on vacation it is great to forget time :) Paula was gracious and available if we needed anything at any time. We will come back to this GEM and will recommend it to family and friends. We live in New England and know the weather in July. We did bring our own window fans and it made sleeping very comfortable. Thank you Thank you Thank you :)"
