  • Excellent stay a the castle!

"We booked a long weekend at the castle to celebrate my wife's birthday. Family and friends joined for the experience of a lifetime! We were greeted with a warm welcome from the castle's caretaker, who gave us an extensive tour of the castle. The entire trip was unforgettable, from everyone gathering for meals around the over-sized dining room table to games in the basement bar room to cross-country skiing around the grounds. The entire castle is very clean and welcoming. John and Lynda were easy to work with and very accommodating throughout my booking and stay experience. I would highly recommend the castle for anyone looking for a unique experience with loved ones; you won't be let down."

  • Would stay here again and again!

"Ideal location, only 4 minutes from cross country skiing and 25 minutes from Wachusett. We had a group of 14 and this place gave plenty of space for everyone. It actually feels like 3 levels of living space, as the lower level is a game room. We had the ultimate ping pong tournament. The home is equipped with extra toiletries, kitchen utensils, you name it! The place is Spotless. GREAT STAY!"

  • Wonderful Place! Reminds me of when I was young

"I had such a fantastic long weekend at this beautiful place! When you drive up into the entry and are greeted by a picturesque setting such as this you can't help it but to get that warm and fuzzy feeling like the one I remember growing up. We had such a great time, very relaxing, refreshing and a nice break from the hustle and bustle. We had so much fun out on the water with the paddle boat and the kayaks, even caught some good sized fish right off the dock! We really didn't venture out on the town because we were just there for a long weekend but probably would if we had stayed for a week or so. We definitely utilized the grill located in arms reach of the incredible back deck and made all kinds of yummy foods every night! The minute we arrived it was just us - concentrating on having a lovely time without worrying or lacking the right tools for the right activity. Stacey maintains a charming vacation spot and has thought of everything in regards to the guests needs and wants and doesn't miss a beat when it comes to information and her help in the arrangements was flawless to say the least. Thank you Stacey! I will be definitely going back next spring and summer - We didn't want to leave but unfortunately the outside world still beckons and I would recommend this property to anyone who wants easy, simple leisure surrounded by historic treasure!"

  • Business Trip Experience

"Having business in Barre and the surrounding area and finding no hotels within close proximity, I looked to VRBO and once again found a wonderful place to stay. My business partner and I stayed in this West Wing Apartment in mid-June and it worked fine for our needs. The owners are very nice and accommodating. Some quick observations: - While it would have been good to be informed that there would be construction happening on the house during our stay, it actually had very little impact on our comfort or work. - The apartment is really well set up for a couple or small family. The main bedroom with the king bed is excellent for a great night's sleep. The twin beds in the children's rooms, however, were a bit short and not all together appropriate for a second business traveler. - If you're into keeping your accommodations spotless during your stay, there are a plethora of cleaning supplies in the kitchen and bathroom. If, however, you're expecting to take a shower, bring your own soap and shampoo. The only option provided is the liquid hand soap. - Probably the most important thing for me, arriving late in the evening was that there be a way to make coffee in the morning without having to go shopping. This was provided for wonderfully, with both decaf and regular coffee in the refrigerator and a reliable coffee maker with timer. - Other features (TV, WiFi, kitchen appliances, shower head, etc.) are all excellent."
