  • 2nd sister Getaway

"It was a beautiful place to stay and would recommend to anyone interested. Very spacious and very clean. Close to Mackinaw City for going to town but just far enough to be in the country on the water. When we were there, many pockets of rain, but the last day, we caught the most beautiful sunrise. Us 5 sisters enjoyed ourselves. Definitely would go again."

  • Peaceful & Perfect

"We spent the first week of October at this beach house and everything about the trip was perfect. Since it was off-season we had the beach to ourselves (with our pups..... thank you, Marlene!). Although, my guess is even in-season it would still be quiet and peaceful. Every night we watched the most amazing sunsets. The upper floor with the great room and kitchen is so open and bright. Tons of windows to open and light just floods in. The beach was awesome with a great fire pit. First time for our pups having roasted hot dogs and we all had the time of our lives. Morning coffee overlooking the lake was another awesome experience. Again, my dogs just fell in love laying on the deck and watching the water. We all took a drive down a very country road (one lane, gravel) around a nearby lake and that was just beautiful. We only ran in to see Leggs Inn but that place was awesome! Next time (we're getting ready to book again) we will definitely go there for at least one meal. Such a unique place and their gardens with tables for dining are just gorgeous, and overlooks Lake Michigan. Not too far away is Harbor Springs and that town is so cute, it feels like you go back in time. Big old Victorians with wrap-around porches and the cutest little downtown. We highly recommend stopping at Tom's Mom's Cookies there and make sure you get enough cookies to take home with you. They are the best! The owner, Marlene, is very nice and easy to work with. Thank you, Marlene, for sharing your beautiful home with us!"

  • Quiet, Comfortable, Clean and easy

"Austin made the trip to the island very seamless, and was super kind and helpful, even answering a text we had about a foghorn question! Kindness seems to be an island hallmark - everyone was really delightful. While we were on the ferry, we every heard stories about how this house came to the island. Our visit was late October, with lovely fall colors, nice late warm weather, and very little tourist traffic (I think we were it!). This meant for lots of exploring solo, deep into forests and along the beach. The general store did not have much in the way of supplies when we visited, so we thankfully had enough food to carry us through. We did have a great burger at the local bar for lunch one day, with a shuffleboard game or two. The house is well-appointed, and has scads of room for guests...though there are just two of us, so we didn't need it all."

  • Another awesome visit!

"The New Moon in the Pines is such a great place to stay when visiting the Mackinaw area. This was my second visit and when I walked in, it was like coming home. It's comfortable, welcoming and very clean. Everything is within walking distance. I've stayed there in the Spring and in the Fall. I think I like the Fall best because almost everything was still open and there were lots of sales everywhere! I may try another visit in the winter but I realize the weather may present some interesting challenges at that time of the year. I had a great visit to Petoskey(D&W Grocery Store can't be beat and there is a great yarn store in the same plaza), Good Hart (do not miss the Good Hart General Store!) and Alanson (another awesome yarn store that can only be accessed through a bakery!). The New Moon is a place I plan to visit often! Deanna B"
