  • Way more than we expected

"You never know what you're going to get when booking on Homeaway. You can't tell how soft the bed is, how good the drinking water is, and what the environment of the area is like. We were blown away with this rental. Let's start with the house. Did I mention it's located on an estate on a dead end road? SUPER QUIET in this area. All I could hear were crickets at night. No traffic, no neighbor noise, awesome. The property is about 350' x 500'. Our two dogs loved playing ball in the yard. Working from the road to the lake, there's a nice tennis court in the corner, a game room is an out building with table tennis, pool, bowling pins, air hockey, tennis and badminton rackets (there's a net in the yard as well). Beyond the game room is the main house, a fountain, the hot tub, and finally the beach area. They have a paddle boat and canoe (we took the paddle boat out for a bit), and the water is clean and warm. The dogs loved fetching sticks we threw into the lake. The house is 3 levels, with steep stairs leading up and down. Probably not conducive if you're old or aren't mobile, but I had no problem with them. The bed is a queen which is very comfortable, and there are a couple of portable AC units in the house. The drinking water quality is awesome. I don't know if there's "city water" in this area, but if this is well water, you can't tell. No sulfur smell or strange taste. Little things like this make this more "home" than "away". The house has xFinity Wifi as well as a router and I had no problem getting cell reception (verizon) at the house. If you haven't been to this area, there is plenty to do if you hike or play golf. Stonegate golf club is a very nice track within 10 minutes of the house, and Muskegon State Park, and Silver Lake Park are within 25 and 40 min respectively. We definitely need to come back to explore more of the trails at Muskegon State Park, and the dunes at Silver Lake are super cool."

  • Perfect For Our Family

"This rental cottage was a perfect fit for our family. We needed something large enough to fit and sleep our extended family of 10, and this worked great. The beds were very comfortable. There was a large table in the dining area that fit us all. The cottage was cute and not too fancy, which was exactly what we wanted. The only downside for us was that the water edge area was down a somewhat steep hill that was not easy for our mom to navigate up and down, but other than that we felt right at home and will be staying there again next year. Grocery store was close just in town, the cottage was clean and neat, the owner was easy to get a hold of and easy to work with and we would recommend this to our friends and family. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us! We loved our time there!"

  • Beautiful, peaceful escape.....

"The moment we arrived at the Overlook Lodge we began to experience the peace and serenity that comes with being in a beautiful natural setting near the water! The view from the deck is gorgeous anytime of day! The beautiful and uniquely decorated home was warm and inviting! Gordon and Tamela were so helpful in acquainting us with what would be our home for the duration of our stay! They were also easy to get in touch with; responding quickly to our requests for assistance or information! We enjoyed many hours of swimming, fishing, kayaking, fireside sing alongs and relaxing on the deck! We also enjoyed nearby Newaygo with its Antique stores, bookstores and Brewery! Our stay ended much too soon and we had to sadly say goodbye to our lakefront retreat! When our schedules allow we will certainly return!"
