  • Nice Alternative to a Hotel

"Cheerful and very spacious studio space. Comfortable for a couple with plenty of space for child on pullout futon. Kitchenette had stove top (no oven), toaster oven, sink and full-size fridge. Dishes and very basic cookware provided (no oven-proof dish for reheating/cooking in toaster oven). Very convenient for making breakfasts, coffee/tea and storing snacks. Tea provided. Would be nice if coffee and some basic spices included. Overall, nothing fancy or luxurious, but impeccably clean and much more space than what you would get at local inns like White Hart. Note that lawn and seating area pictured on site faces the small street and owner's house. Although set back, spacious and pleasant, this is not a backyard or private yard area. Overall, very good value, quiet and pleasant. Owner very responsive."

  • Wonderful rustic getaway!

"Pop's Cabin was a perfect weekend getaway for our 50th birthdays. Les and Elaine were great hosts and very responsive. The cabin is a real cabin... just so warm and inviting. We had two couples staying three nights and the accomodations provide for the right amount of privacy and together time. The beds and linens are comfortable. The cabin was stocked with everything we needed. We cooked gourmet meals two of the nights and wanted for nothing in the kitchen. Plenty of wine glasses and beer steins and frozen beer mugs. The knives are sharp and several cutting boards. The dining room table accomodates waymore than we needed. Nice entertainment system including whole house surround system which we used for a dance party that no one should ever see! The front porch provided a huge stack of wood for the fireplace and two nice rockers to relax in the quiet. You can barely hear a road with traffic in the distance. A big pine in the front yard was laced in white lights that gave the place a special brightness that made you feel at home. Les recommended the Hillrock Distillery that was less than a mile away. Do the one hour tour for $20. The tour guide was 24 and far beyond his years in intellect and personal interaction. He gave us hope for the younger generation. What an amaizing young man! We shot pool at Mt. Washington House, an 1800s tavern taken over by the late owner's daughter, Kelly. Three pool tables and the best service! We dined at The Pond and had a great time partying with the owners, Larry and Linda (thank you for the fabulous birthday dinner and drinks). We hiked Bash Bish Falls at Taconic Mountain. Out with the bad... so you can take in more bad. If you are coming in through Millerton, stop at Balck Rabbit Bar & Grill for a bloody mary - have them make it with the cucumber vodka or the pepper vodka - both were excellent! We want to thank Les and Elaine for sharing their place with us! It was one of the best birthday excursions we have taken and there have been many of them. We will be back this summer! Until then..."

  • Wendy is fantastic and has thought of everything! Great house for groups!

"Every summer I rent a house for a long weekend with a group of family and friends. Wendy's house has been our best experience yet! The house has everything you can think of, even things that I hadn't thought about before the trip, like a cooler and board games. There are pleasant surprises everywhere - the garage had a ping pong table that we didn't know about! The kitchen / living room area is great for assembling a group, as is the beautiful porch area. The bedrooms are comfortable, and the master bedroom/bath especially is wonderful. The shower is great! The backyard is probably the highlight of the property. It's large and has a gas grill that Wendy provides a tank for, a firepit, and a hot tub. There was one disappointment, which I quickly got over - In the photos, the house looked to me like nobody had ever stepped foot in it before, but it's actually more lived in than that. That doesn't mean that the house is run down - it's in very good shape - but there are a couple areas where, for example, paint has chipped off the walls. It didn't interfere with our trip at all. I doubt the house would have been so well-stocked if it hadn't been enjoyed by Wendy's family Wendy is the best! She responds within minutes to all questions and was consistently reasonable and flexible. For example, we were able to check in early and stay late. She also gives you complete privacy - she isn't in town but provides a phone number for a handyman whom I assume can help you out if you have any issue with the house, which we didn't The location is great too. Under 2 hours driving to NYC. Several people took the Amtrak to Rhinebeck, which is about a 25 minute drive from the house. The surrounding area is beautiful and peaceful Some tips for future travelers -There's wifi and a landline at the house but cell service is very spotty in the area. If you're going to go driving in e.g. to pick someone up from the train station, plug it into Google maps before you leave the house, while you still have wifi -As Wendy will note to you, the hot tub truly does take a long time to heat up. Turn it up at least a couple hours early -Cover the hot tub when it's not in use. Wendy will also tell you to do this, and we did our best, but we still ended up gathering a fair amount of leaves and outdoor debris in the tub, which made it somewhat less appetizing after the first night 10/10! Everyone in the group commented on how great the house was. We'd love to go back"

  • Right down the road from Lion Rock Farm

"Very nice house. There were 6 of us staying here for my son's wedding at Lion Rock, we were very comfortable here and we were able to host other family members before and after different wedding weekend events. We had yard games set up for kids and adults, this house is a must if your having an event at Lion Rock Farm. Gary Myrtle Beach Promotions"
