  • Location, Location, Location...to the beach!

"This was our first time renting a cottage in Montauk as opposed to staying in a hotel. We went with another couple and wanted a place with our own bedrooms with a comfortable common area so that we could eat, hang out and talk and this cottage met the criteria. It was also a short walk to the beach and very secluded from the main road. Alison was there to meet us when we got there and was very helpful with any questions or additional needs that we had. It was clean and quaintly decorated. From what I am told, a lot of the cottages built for only summer use in the similar price range are on the older side, with a rustic feel, and dank smell to them, as was this one. There were 2 bedrooms. The master had a comfortable king size bed, high ceilings and big windows that let in the early light. There were no room darkening shades. So, if you are able to sleep in a fully brightened room it shouldn’t be a problem. There was also a nest or 2 of baby birds living under the roof. Not sure when they leave the nest for good but they tended to get up and started chirping around sunrise (5am) which made sleeping soundly after 5am in the master bedroom a little challenging. The other bedroom was smaller (b/ still a good size) with only 1 window and shades that blocked out the sun. I know that a lot of people prefer a firm/hard mattress but I would consider bringing a foam mattress topper for additional comfort. The kitchen had all the amenities that we needed for our stay and the living room area was very inviting and comfortable. One last thing that didn’t take away from the amazing time we had but did prove to be a bit of an annoyance was the amount of flies that were in the house. When the windows were left open to take advantage of the fresh air/breezes, it appeared that they came in though the small holes in the screens. Needless to say, the fly swatter came in very handy "

  • cute and quiet little hideaway - kitchen is perfectly equipped!

"This is a really lovely place, great location, amazing hammock to enjoy, and a fenced yard. We saw wildlife every day -- bunnies, deer, wild turkeys, chipmunks. The home is small, but really nicely laid out, and we had plenty of space for 4 adults and a toddler. It's well decorated (mid-century modern style), well-provisioned and clean. The kitchen is really well supplied -- and there is a great grill out back that's available for use, too. You are very close to grocery shopping and a little commercial hub in the center of the island, but it feels super secluded and private. Though off a main road, the home is tucked away in the back, so you are never bothered by noise or other people. Joan herself is super responsive and friendly, even going so far as sending someone, on a Saturday, to replace the grill's gas line (which an animal had chewed through) so that we would have it available for use. We were really happy with our stay here and would definitely recommend it to others!"

  • Great House!

"This house was everything you could ask for. The open floor plan upstairs was great! Natural light everywhere, loved the rafters in the ceilings.. Just an overall great house. Peter and Sue were so easy to work with. Kind people, very helpful and responsive. Pool was spotless.. Definitely a serious plus. I'd definitely go there again!"
