  • Pefect for 2 Families of 4 and 2 Dogs

"We just spent a wonderful week in Corolla at this location (minus some rain). We went down with my Brother in Law and family, each of us with two small kids, and the house fit us great! The private pool is wonderful, and makes for a fun experience when the weather is iffy. The layout was great with the kids all able to sleep comfortably. The lake was also an added bonus, and if you have kids there are a 100s of turtles that come begging to eat your leftover bread (as well as some large carp)! If you are into fishing, there is no license required for the lake (according to local bait shop), and I landed a few large mouth bass on a spinner and spoon. The walk to the beach is a little lengthy with small children, but there is an easy drop off point as described, and we dropped off the wives and the kids with the stuff and walked over to meet them. Just walking as adults it is about a ten minute leisurely walk to the beach from the house. It really is not far at all and the turtles following you around the lake provide for great entertainment. Inside the house is perfect for a beach vacation, all appliances worked great, and the internet was fast as well."

  • Six sisters

"Six sisters and spouses joined together here for a week. We had a BLAST! The house was great, pool was exceptional...view of the ocean was awesome! I missed outside stairs between the decks and a direct access to the beach from the pool, however, once we " found our way" it was OK. There was one quirky problem...the ironing board is bolted to the wall in the laundry room AND there is an iron BUT NO OUTLET to plug in the iron!!! We laughed about that and our persnicknity brother in law was the ONLY one put out! All said and done this is a pretty awesome place to spend a week!"

  • Nice home away from home

"We enjoyed our week at Family Tides. Our families came together and shared the house. Ran in to a few maintenance issues that were resolved within 24 hours. Great pool and hot tub, but landscaping needed love. Easy access to the beach, close to stores."

  • An Oasis of Comfort & Accommodation

"We just returned from spending Labor Day week in your lovely home. It is an oasis of comfort and accommodation. It is decorated so beautifully. The kitchen is well stocked with everything one could possibly need and it was easy to see that a large group of 12 could easily have a meal together. The master bedroom bed and linens were so comfortable my husband, who typically is an early riser, spent many mornings lingering in bed because he was so comfortable. I love the atmosphere of your home - it was beautiful, inviting, cozy, and warm. I appreciated the special touches, i.e., the framed cross-stitched lighthouse, the happy reminders of what a beach vacation is all about in the wall hangings, the lighthouse stools in the kitchen, and the adorable bedroom with the painted furniture. Sitting in the swinging chair or laying on the hammock became a daily activity after a day on the beach. This was our first time visiting the OBX and it was delightful. This home is located within short walking distance to a private, community beach. The owners have provided enough beach chairs for a large family, beach toys for children, and a beach wagon to assist in carrying whatever necessary to the beach. What a wonderful surprise to see that dogs are permitted on the beach. We are not dog owners but did enjoy watching them have fun in the ocean. Permitting dogs on the beach enhanced the family atmosphere of OBX. There are local shops, a grocery store and restaurants only a mile or so away. Recommend calling restaurants for reservations. Restaurants we enjoyed; Agave Roja (modern Mexican) excellent food and service, Buddhalicious (Thai inspired) Zen atmosphere with delicious food, Lighthouse Bagels (NOT your dense grocery store bagel - how do they make them so light and fabulously delicious?), and The Paper Canoe in Duck (poetry on a plate - exquisite food beautifully presented). Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us. We plan to return to the Lark Inn for our next OBX visit."
