"Felt like home, but with a stunning view, lovely screened in porch (dined there every night), close enough to quaint town of Murphy, but not too close. Lots of bedrooms with comfy beds, modern appliances and fully equipped kitchen and laundry. Host was very accommodating. We couldn't get the furnace to work and they sent repair man immediately. If you like blue Grass, head on down to Haysville to an old gas station. On Friday nights the locals meet there for impromptu jammin' on fiddles, guitars and mandolins. If you would rather watch the boob tube with the mountain views out the window, there is a large screen tv with satellite and Netflix!
The marina would have been wonderful but between the drought and the dam lowering there water level, it was very low. They had beautiful pontoons to rent but we didn't want to swim off the boat so passed on it.
We found this place on Saturday, the day the Outer Banks Flooded from Hurricane Matthew(which is where we were supposed to go!) We were able to book this mountain haven by 1, and repacked for the mountains to arrive on Sunday. Ellen couldn't have been nicer. Would definitely book again!
Btw, if you want to book a place in the Outer Banks, don't book through OBXBlue! Go with Home Away!!"
