  • Awesome girls weekend

"Fantastic place for a girls' weekend. Views were spectacular. Very relaxed, comfortable and inviting. Tons of room for everyone AND a fully equipped kitchen. Pictures do not do this place justice. You will not find anything better in the area for the price point. The Adirondack chairs around the fire pit were perfect for an evening hang out. Lots of yard for games. The driveway is NO joke, but everyone was able to get up without issue. The owners were friendly and helpful. Would recommend for any large group. We will definitely be back."

  • a prefect getaway in the forest, on the side of a river

"I love Paddler's Lane! I've stayed there several times over the years. Everything about the experience is excellent. The owner, Robin, is wonderful, genuinely nice and down to earth. She is always attentive to our needs, and available to provide whatever possible to make our stay a top notch experience. The interior design of the chalet is beautiful. Everything from the colors used, to the well chosen fixtures to the high quality furnishings. The overall finish is excellent. It's beautifully done and comfortable. I particularly like the abundant natural wood (cypress) throughout the chalet. Robin is a potter, and artist, and colors the interior reflect this. The colors are very warm. It feels very natural, and really works with the beautiful outdoors of the Laurel Highlands. And the property itself is absolutely beautiful. The Youghiogheny River and Ohiopyle State Park border one side of the property, giving it a calm, running water feeling. But the river also sports a wild side, offering Class II up to Class V white water rapids. Robin is a kayaker and guide, and an encyclopedia of knowledge of the river. For kayaking, canoeing and fishing the area cannot be beat. The hiking and biking trails along the river and in the state park are excellent. There are also two Frank Lloyd Wright homes that are in easy driving distance of Paddlers Lane, Falling Water and Kentuck Knob. Falling Water is world famous, and truly extraordinary. It features a river that runs underneath the property. Highly recommend seeing it. There is a stone fire pit on the property. So a very enjoyable evening can be had star gazing around the campfire. My dogs are always welcome at PL, the owner encourages responsible pet owners to bring their dogs for stays. This very relaxing getaway is really unique, and keeps us coming back, year after year."

  • Lovely home & great location

"My lovely bride and I, another couple, and a friend from Pittsburgh spent two nights at this lovely place in late May. The property is just as described. Working with Kara (the owner) was a great experience: very responsive, quick to answer questions, and quick to give us a heads-up about getting gas before we got to town. The home sits above the Yough River, easy to see and hear from the house, deck or hot tub. Easy parking for two vehicles. Inside, the house is very comfortable, with a big closet to the right of the front door and a bathroom to the left. The living room has good lighting and comfy sofa and chairs. The kitchen is well equipped; all appliances were easy to use. The dining "bar" only has four stools but there are folding chairs in the closet. The master bedroom is quite large with a huge closet, full bath with old-fashioned tub and plastic shower curtains. There is a door that opens onto the deck. The kitchen also has a door that opens onto the deck. We cooked-in both nights and enjoyed our meals on the deck (we had perfect weather!). The other downstairs bedroom has twin beds. The loft is huge, with chairs on one end, and windows galore. There is no bathroom up here. Guests using the loft have to use the bathroom on the first floor. The washer and dryer are in the basement and there was plenty of laundry soap. Easy to use Wi-Fi. Three of us used the hot tub each late afternoon = as my wife said each time she climbed in: "Aaahhhhh!" The road is totally quiet since the only two houses are those owned by Kara and her husband, John. We visited the Flight 93 Memorial up in Stoystown/Shanksville = a powerful and moving experience. We also visited Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic home built for the Kaufman family = awesome. And on the day we departed, we did a short hike in Ohiopyle State Park = beautiful. One evening we walked down the hill and across the bridge to the Outflow Ice Cream shop = yummy! Kara will send you a lot of information about the house and you will find a binder with the same and additional info on the living room table. There also are brochures to area attractions on the shelf in the living room. Overall, we had a wonderful time staying here. Our only regret: we couldn't stay longer!"

  • Beautiful, peaceful riverside retreat

"Paddler's Lane Bed & Breakfast is definitely one that we would come back to again and again. The home and property are stunningly beautiful and welcoming. The rustic interior made us feel like we were at home and the caretaker, Dan, could not have been more hospitable. He made us very comfortable and was very easy to converse with. The peaceful setting of the house next to the river and railroad tracks make it very enjoyable to sit outside or go for a walk on the property. We highly recommend this B & B to anyone looking for a peaceful place to get away."
