  • Overall a great stay

"We stayed for 4 days. The SPI management company is great to deal with, they are very friendly and quick to answer questions. You will need to print and sign the contract and fax/email back to them, so make sure you have a printer available and have a way to send it back to them. You call them when you are 30 minutes out, and when you are at the bridge and they have someone meet you at the property. We arrived to Continental #104. First, they do not have parking in front of the property, you have to park across the street, either on the street or in a parking lot for residents/visitors. There is a locked gate and they give you the code, so it's secure. Upon getting inside, it's definitely like the photos, except the couch is a bit run down and odd to sit in because of the 2 cushions, just don't sit down the middle of it. There was some damage to walls, but they say they note all of that and should not worry about it. There is a TV in each bedroom and living room. There is an XBOX for games, but we didn't use it. DVD player available too. You have everything you need in the kitchen, except pot holders (when you use the oven, you kind of want them). You get dish soap and 2 tabs for the dishwasher. They pretty much provide you with linens and towels, and get one little bottle each of shampoo/conditioner/body wash. But if you are staying for more than a day, you will most likely bring your own. The little bars of soap were sufficient for us. You will need to bring your own detergent if you intend on washing clothes. There is no direct access to the beach from the patio, which is nice in space, since it spans the length of your condo from living room to master bedroom. The master bedroom bed is _extremely_ noisy, when getting in, changing positions or getting out, but very comfortable (not firm though, in case you like firm beds). The bunk beds are possibly queen or double beds (top and bottom), so they are a good size. The view of the ocean is a bit limited, but that was because we wanted the convenience of the first floor (picture on site depicts correctly). There is a pool, which we didn't end up using. There is a wash off area by back gate. You can see the bay fireworks (Thurs and Fri night) from the front of the condo, but probably best if you were on the bay and we didn't get to stay for the beach fireworks on Saturday night. Beach isn't too crowded in this area. Overall, we had fun, felt at home. Renting a condo beats renting a hotel any time."

  • Relaxing, thoughtful, close by everything, excellent owner

"I've traveled all over the world in the last 13 years and I have never stayed in a condo like this. It was an excellent experience. Most condos only have a front balcony. This one has 3 doors to each of the 3 sides of the condo, with a balcony that wraps around 33% of the condo. There are only 2 deck chairs so use your beach chairs for 3+ people. Speaking of the balcony, the employees at the front desk absolutely do NOT tolerate any sort of bathing suits, towels, etc to be on the balcony to dry off. Not on the railing. Not on the chairs. Nowhere. Our stuff just wouldn't dry very much in the condo so we had to use the dryers@ 2.00 a pop everyday; make it a full load! Change machine limited to $1 & $5. If you don't have that, they direct you to walk 2 blocks across the street to a gas station to get change. Same with wristbands, general cash and exact change when you check in. So, bring change and plenty of cash. BTW, there is no Chase in SPI. Use the Chase in Port Isabel. In Port Isabel, there's a Walmart. (There's not really anything to shop at on SPI except overpriced beach gear stores but more about the resale shops in a sec!) It does things a little different. They offer 1/2 ct of almost everything bc vacationers only need supplies for 3-7 days! 5 ct of trashbags, 50 sheet paper towels, 2 oz dish soap, etc! And the prices are 1/2 cut too. Supplies you'll need for the condo: dish soap, trashbags, paper towels, (extra) rolls of toilet paper, foil, laundry soap, plastic wrap, cooking spray, seasonings. Hint: use travel bottle for dish soap and bring some yourself. Resale shops! There are 3 of them. 1 benefits the only animal rescue group on SPI. If you need beach towels, supplies, clothes, condo stuff, go there! Save $$$ on gently used stuff, support SPI animal rescue! We found giant beach towels for $4! Much cheaper than overpriced stores, environmentally friendly and they have everything you need. Transport: the yellow/blue Wave shuttles are free, safe, clean, fast, comes every 30 min! Aquarius has private beach access but not private beaches. Beach guys get there @ 9am, take up premium areas with their umbrellas/chairs and then charge you $25 for the day to use them! Don't fall for it! Beach tip: go north on Gulf blvd ALL the way to beach access #6. Drive on the beach, set up shop and spend the day where NOBODY else is! $12 entry fee; $2 refund when you return trash in plastic bag. IMMEDIATELY GO TO CAR WASH AND RINSE UNDERCARRIAGE OF CAR!"
