  • Good but not great.

"This is a comfortable condo in an excellent position surrounded by trees and greenery. Just a little way down the road is Harvest Market which serves great coffee and even better cakes, breads and lots of other delicious delicacies - very dangerous! My reasons for giving a less than great rating are that although the blurb about the condo says the the furnishings are modern, in fact the dining room table and chairs are pretty ancient and very well worn - definitely past their use by date. And we couldn't understand why there were only 2 dining chairs at the table with a party of 4 coming in. We found some collapsible chairs in a cupboard, thankfully. The other reason is that the whole apartment is in need of a bit of TLC. The window frames in the main bedroom are rotted - maybe other window frames too - and the paint work looks like it's seen better days. Even so, it was comfortable and quiet. We ate out twice at The Bench and really enjoyed our meals. Tasty fish and some of the best chips I've ever had. The other meal options were good too."

  • Great location, comfortable and spacious!

"Everyone in our family loved staying at this lovely Stonybrook property. Every room is comfortable and spacious and beautifully decorated, which makes you feel right at home. The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of seating and room for preparing meals. The location is perfect, close to the mountain and all the restaurants and shops. It feels very private, with nice views, even though it's part of a development. Having a washer and dryer in the unit was a nice bonus. And the mud room/ entry way is perfect for storing ski/hiking boots. We look forward to coming back! ."

  • Serenity

"My wife and I and 2 dogs were lucky to arrive when the leaves were close to peak and the weather was sunny and close to 80 F and also a day before it was scheduled to be rainy and windy. A dirt path led to a clearing near the pond where we parked. Benches can be seen near the pond. To the right there was a dirt road leading up to the cabin overlooking the pond. We initially opted to walking up the shorter steeper route consisting of stone steps and rails made of branches. While unpacking the car with our hands full we chose the longer, less steep, dirt road to go back and forth. While unpacking we had the opportunity to meet Jeff ,Karen's husband when he came to check on the cabin. With no other renters they were kind enough to allow us to check-in and check-out whenever we liked. Coming from NY it was nice to listen to the quiet. The gas lights were nice but utilized candles more when we were awake because being a warm day the gas lights gave off a lot of heat. There were a lot of hiking trails to avail of but unfortunately we didn't have time to explore as much as we would've liked. The cabin and area is as described. We only stayed 2 nights so we were able to get by with cleaning ourselves with body and facial wipes. Remember, there aren't any showers, but Karen provided some sources in town to wash if needed. For a sit down breakfast that is close by I would really recommend the Green Goddess Cafe. As a suggestion be there before 9:45am and be sure to place your order first, then sit down and wait for your order to be called. Lines form very quickly because anyone who enters has to stand on line to place their order. While we were eating the line peaked at 15 people. The one thing that was a little unnerving is what I'll refer to as the strange dog, this is before I knew who's dog it was. I wake up one morning, with daylight approaching, I hear a dog in the distance barking. It's not to bad from a distance but it's barking is getting louder and louder but I don't see anything when I look out the window of the cabin. I go about doing my morning routine. Take the dogs out then walk down the path to the car where I feed them. After I fed them I turn and finally see the barking dog around 2 car lengths away barking at us. I didn't know whose dog it was at the time or whether it was friendly or not so I put my 2 dogs in the car. After a few minutes it stopped barking and just walked away."

  • Great 2016 MLK weekend get away

"My family had a wonderful long weekend at Battleground! What a beautiful place. The condo was fabulous. So well stocked, everything we could need. Kitchen was well stocked. Plenty of towels. Just great. The queen bed is one of the best beds I have ever slept in. My husband is 6-5 and I was worried about a queen size, we always get a king but it really was great. I would recommend this condo to anyone! The owner was very responsive to any and all requests and questions. You will eat very well in the Mad River Valley. So many restaurants we will have to return to try them all. Skiing was great at Sugarbush and Mount Ellen."
