  • Lovely Location

"Very spacious cottage right on the beach. Wonderful for our 55+ little group. Plenty of bedrooms for everyone. Sitting on the water with your toes in the sand made each day a delight! Board games and card games overlooking the bay was wonderful. After one heavy afternoon rain shower, a double rainbow lingered in the sky for almost an hour. Brilliant colors and wonderful location. Easy access to shopping in town and little restaurants. Very quiet sleepy town, very welcoming! Put the kayaks out right in front of the house and paddled down the shoreline waking up all the stingray early in the morning. They would often paddle along with us, and even bump the kayak to check us out. Heading over to Gwynns Island for seafood. Found a little place right on the water. We are coming back in a few months and plan to paddler over for lunch this time! We can't wait! Wonderful location, quiet area and private! Who could ask for more!!!"

  • Great House!

"This home is just as pictured. Very clean and comfortable! It was so nice having everything in the kitchen, from spices to condiments. The views were beautiful! We took advantage of the great variety of board games, and movies during a rainy day. I would definitely stay again!"

  • Extremely Relaxaing environment!!

"This was our first time staying at the Blue Heron House, but it won't be our last. My husband was looking for a relaxing getaway for his 42nd birthday and the location didn't disappoint. We've stayed at other properties on VRBO in the past and this home is definitely in our top 3. The house is decorated beautifully with beach motif all through out, no detail was spared. The views were beautiful!! We took 3 other couples along with us and the house accommodated us all comfortably. It was nice to have 3 cooked meals a day around the table, hang out by the pool, sit out on the deck to read and tan. This home is just what we needed to shut our minds down from work for a few days. The towels and linens were of great quality. Susan, the owner was very pleasant, laid back and responsive to our questions, and she made the check in and check out process really easy, which I appreciated as I only had about 3 weeks to pull together the celebratory weekend. All of our friends were impressed, and was so glad that it was only an hour drive away and that we didn't have to catch a flight back after such a relaxing weekend. They all want us to make this a yearly trip. I must mention we also rented the boat for a day- Well worth it!! The view of all the homes along the bay were astonishing, and then to come back and have crabs lined up in the crab pots to cook, was just icing on the cake!! In case you can't tell, we had a great time, in only 3 days!! Highly recommend to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of life!!"

  • Peace, serenity, and comfort wrapped in a beautiful space

"The pictures say it all – Catherine’s Cove is spacious, cozy, comfortable, with all sorts of lovely spaces to retreat to. We loved having coffee on the front porch which was in the shade in the morning – so peaceful to watch and hear the birds and other sounds of nature while reading a book. At the end of the day –the enclosed porch facing the bay was another retreat, with the sounds of the bay and wildlife to soothe. We made good use of the kayaks and loved exploring the Chesapeake Bay. For early risers – a gorgeous view of the sun rising over the bay can be seen from either the enclosed porch or the dock. Just lovely. A bonus we experienced: viewing a thunderstorm over the bay one evening while staying cozily dry on the porch. The house comfortably accommodated two couples, a single adult, and a teenager in its spacious bedrooms and baths. The kitchen was also spacious and had everything we needed to cook, from quick to gourmet meals. During our stay we experienced an east-coast heat wave where temperatures soared into the late 90s. No worries about comfort though – the industrial-sized air conditioning unit kept us wonderfully cool when inside. Our only suggestion: if staying in the summer months, bring a lot of bug repellent for the mosquitoes and pesky no-see-ums given that you will be in the Chesapeake wetlands. Beautiful house and space - hope to return!"
