  • Perfect quick getaway

"We stayed at Distant City Lights for a quick getaway as a couple, and we were very sad to leave! Donna gave us a few great suggestions for activities in the area and we loved getting a taste of the island life! It was just a short drive and a ferry ride out of the city, but it felt like we were a world away. Can't wait to go back!"

  • A great weekend getaway

"Stayed at Lagoma lodge for our anniversary weekend in March, it was blustery and rainy but we had a great time! The manager was helpful and checkin and out was a breeze. The house was like stepping back in time to your grandparent's vacation home. Cute, clean, cozy and full of history. We had a great time hanging out on the comfortable couches with the fire going and cooking Sunday breakfast in the updated kitchen. The views were amazing and the beach access cannot be beat. We brought our golden retriever and he loved running around in circles on the lawn and chasing his tennis ball that I threw from the front porch. Langley is a short drive away, and the market in Clinton had everything we needed."

  • Stunning location on the Lake!

"We recently stayed on Whidbey Island at the Deer Lake location and our party included 6 adults and 2 children. The house was everything we had hoped for! The view of the lake, peaceful surroundings and fabulous weather made for an outstanding stay! Many mornings began with several of us jumping off the dock into the refreshing water. We had coffee and breakfast on the deck while bird-watching. We have family that live on the island and hosting a get-together at the house made for wonderful memories - especially the fire pit (wood provided) which we used at the end of the day to share stories, sing songs and make s'mores! We used the gas grill on several occasions and the kitchen was well-stocked. The house provided many extra supplies such as spices, sugar for coffee, aluminum foil, dish detergent, dishwasher soap, laundry soap, liquid soap at all bathroom sinks, etc. We have stayed at other VRBOs when none of these items were available - so this was a huge plus for us! We loved the row boat and took turns rowing around the lake. The cool breezes off the lake cooled the house at night as we slept with the windows and sliding doors open (all with screens). The beds were extremely comfortable and the house's floor plan was open and inviting. We loved playing games most evenings on the kitchen table or out on the deck table. Both areas were accommodating to our party and the house had a highchair which helped with the little one. The downstairs den was well stocked with movies and books - we took advantage of both. We had a few issues with the hot tub heating up but the owners were readily available to work it out. We explored the island and would recommend Ebey's Landing and the quaint town of Coupville. We took the ferry to the Olympic Mountains and drove up to Hurricane Ridge - what a view!! (definitely worth the day trip!) A couple of tips - when buying groceries - it is definitely worth driving the couple extra miles to Payless Foods in Freehand. We first shopped at The Goose in Langley because it was convenient - but it was very pricey. We also found better priced meats at The Star Store in downtown Langley. Also - most of the shops and places to eat close up around 6:00 p.m. on the south part of the island (close to Deer Lake) - so plan accordingly. It's definitely "Island Time!" We loved our stay and would definitely return to this location - the owners were awesome and easy to work with!!"
