  • Christmas on the lake

"My family got together from across Wisconsin for a long Christmas weekend at this place. It was so pretty, right on the lake. Would have been a lot better if the weather was more agreeable. Snow storm two of our three days. But plenty of space inside to play games and relax. The only issue we had all weekend was that the TV was off often due to the storms and the wind was loud! Not much you can do about the weather with winter in Wisconsin. Owner was very easy to work with and left a nice welcome basket."

  • Fantastic cabin by the lake!

"The cabin was right by the lake with a beautiful lawn to grill and sit around a fire eating s'mores. The inside was spacious and very nicely furnished. It was everything that we expected!"

  • Relaxing Stay by Lake Michigan

"We have never been to Wisconsin before, so trying to find a place that met our needs took some time. We were very delighted to find this Condo along the river which in less than a 1/10th of mile emptied into Lake Michigan. It was very quiet and peaceful. The Condo is a 3 bedroom/3 bath unit. The beds were large enough for 2 adults per bed (2 beds in each unit). The beds were quite comfortable. It was great that we had fans to assist in air circulation in the bedrooms. We were also able to open the windows to allow fresh air. Two of the bedrooms have their own balconies, plus a sizable wrap around balcony from the living room. The unit was quite clean, well maintained. The town of Algoma is quite serene. We did walk to the nearby grocery store (2 1/2 blocks away) to buy groceries for dinner. We also had pizza another night from a place across the street. The start of the boardwalk is about 1/10th of a mile from the condo. Two doors down from the Condo, as you head to Lake Michigan, you do pass a local winery tasting room and just beyond that is a local micro brewery. We did not go into either one, but saw that many people, locals and tourists, were having a great time. A few easy things to sort out would be: 1) Add additional chairs for the main balcony based on the number of guests; 2) Have a few condiments available in the kitchen (we did buy salt, pepper, few major seasonings (cinnamon, oregano, basil) coffee, Tabasco, oil, vinegar, etc.) We did buy many of these items and left them behind for others to use. There were coffee filters and a good variety of dishes, flatware, pots and pans; 3) Have an instruction booklet; how to turn on/off the TV, how to run the oven, what to do when you leave, what to do with the trash, etc. 4) Have a booklet with a map of Algoma to show where the restaurants and points of interest may be found; 5) Have sufficient cleaning supplies (dishwasher detergent/hand wash detergent); we did have plenty of bar soap for the bathrooms; little shampoos would have been nice, but fortunately we had a little to share; 6) Have maintenance secure the dishwasher; it is no longer firmly in place. Most of the above items are simple fixes and would make the experience that much better. Overall, I would not hesitate returning to this property. It was perfect for our vacation. The cost was reasonable. I would highly recommend that you give this property your serious consideration. Quick drive to Green Bay-35 minutes."

  • Beautiful home in a great location for exploring Door County

"My husband and I stayed here for a week in late September. We've always had great luck finding vacation homes through VRBO, but the Ballard House was by far one of the nicest places we've stayed. Don't be fooled by the unassuming look of the exterior - the home is beautifully decorated and in a great location. There's an antique/vintage store across the street, a coffee shop just a block away, and lots of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. This was our first time in Door County, and Sturgeon Bay was a perfect "home base" for exploring the peninsula."
