  • Perfect location....right in the heart of Madeline Island!

"We are a family of 4 that stayed around the 4th of July. We planned on eating out and also cooking/grilling too. We brought a potable gas grill but you could also bring charcoal as there are areas such as Joni's beach and the State and town parks that have grills and picnic table available. There is a grocery store, but as expected, everything is a little more expensive on the island. We had a great time exploring on our bikes and by foot! We did the kayak tour from right across the street and had fabulous time with our tour guide Sam!! Lots to do and we would definitely stay there again."

  • Beautiful place to relax and unwind!

"My husband, two daughters and their husbands, along with our 6 month old granddaughter enjoyed a wonderful week in this beautiful home. The lake home was everything we were hoping it would be so we could unwind from the hustle and bustle of daily life and begin to take in the breathtaking scenery. We were lucky enough to see eagles on several occasions perched in a tree right next to the house and also enjoyed hearing the loons each evening. The set-up of the home was very roomy and no one felt like they were on top of each other. The kitchen had everything you could imagine to cook with and we spent plenty of time on the 3 season's porch enjoying meals and playing the games that were thoughtfully provided at the home. The weather was beautiful for the majority of our stay and we were able to enjoy swimming on Sand Island, skiing and kayaking right from the pier and fishing on the beautiful flowage. Ted was an extremely gracious host and made sure to contact us when we arrived to ensure everything was going well and to inform us about some of the highlights in the area. I would recommend this lake home to anyone that is interested in enjoying the beauty of the great north woods in a stunning home!"

  • Nice relaxing weekend getaway

"We were very happy with the cabin. All the information we needed was provided, (phone numbers, check out instructions, etc.) The path to the river was so inviting. We spent every morning sitting in the porch with our coffee watching for wildlife, which we saw one morning when a bear came to inspect the smell of breakfast cooking. Love the sky lights in the upstairs bedrooms. I would bring a DVD player next time. It does kind of echo with no window treatments to absorb sound, so late sleepers might have a hard time getting in their ZZZs."

  • Magic. Spacious. Well thought-out property.

"We just spent the past 10 days at the Artist's Lake-View Country Home. It was wonderfully, artistically, intentional. What I mean is that every piece of furniture, art, shrubbery, trees, statues, windows, lighting was thought about and carefully placed - yet done so in a way that at first appears quirky, then looks completely natural. Applause for Richard Dillon creating such a place. There was plenty of room for us to do everything - sleep, cook, dine-in, walk or simply enjoy gazing out at a sunrise or the nearby woods on any of the 5 open or enclosed decks. The house and grounds/gardens are well kept and very inviting. The information we received about the place was clear and concise. It was very helpful. We came as 4: 2 adults, 2 kids. It can accommodate many more. If I would want anything it would be for more storage/closet/drawer space in the loft area where the kids chose to stay. The rest of the house was fine. We spent a good deal of the time hiking, biking and enjoying Lake Superior. 6 miles south is Washburn, WI, and I would recommend eating at Coco Cafe and Bakery for breakfast or lunch. DaLou's is a great choice for dinner. 6 miles north is Bayfield, WI, and I would recommend the Egg Toss Bakery Cafe for breakfast. Maggie's for lunch and dinner. Ethel's at 250, Pickled Herring Restaurant, Greunke's and Wild Rice Restaurant for dinner as well. The Candy Shoppe is great for ice cream and Big Water Coffee Roasters beats Starbucks anytime. There are concerts in the Park by the shore several times a week. I can't speak for the Wintertime. Our time there during June and July was fabulous. I imagine Spring and Fall are great as well. I would highly recommend the Artist's Lake-View Country home to anyone."
