  • Welcoming, charming, clean and consumately confortable!

"Seven retired women on a golf trip in the New Glarus area struck gold with a stay at this property. On a quiet street in New Glarus, Wisconsin, the 1914 brick home with geranium-filled window boxes on the corner of quiet streets beckoned us inside. We were cordially welcomed by Jane, the owner, and given an informative and historical tour. Original oak and hardwoods throughout the house lead you from room to room. Our stay here was like staying at home -- because it was so comfortably appointed and decorated. We found the three bathrooms with showers more than adequate for all of us women. The kitchen had more appliances, utensils and dishes than most of our own kitchens -- we lacked nothing. Everything in the house worked -- no frustrations of any kind in that regard. The house was clean, had no lingering odors and offered comfortable, clean beds with crisp linens. Satellite TV and WiFi posed no problems and worked well. We never ran out of hot water even if all three showers were running at once along with the dishwasher. The large farmhouse-style kitchen table was a great gathering place for our meals and of course adult beverages and cards and story-telling in the evenings. From the Duerst house, it's a short walk to the shops in New Glarus. Jane was accessible by phone and "on call" in the event we would need something. We chose the house because we wanted to visit the New Glarus area and nearby Mt. Horeb along with Monroe 27 miles to the south. We golfed, shopped, went to the New Glarus Brewery (with a charming reproduction of a German beer garden) and made it to the Duluth Trading Supply outlet store in nearby Belleville and the Duluth Trading Supply store in Mt. Horeb. And, of course other shops in all of these areas. Lunch at the very authentic Poncho and Lefty's on the square in Monroe is not to be missed. Don't let the storefront or your first steps into the place scare you. The food is amazing! And reasonable. Bikers and business people and tourists in this small place while we were there. We will return to this property for sure -- maybe with our families, perhaps for a family reunion or maybe for another golf trip."

  • Awesome location!

"The house is perfectly located across the street for the Ski hills. The house is extremely spacious and fit my friends and I very well. The kitchen and family room have open concept and large island in the center which was great for our big group. The bedrooms are all very big and could each accommodate an air mattress if need be. Laurel had great communication before we arrived as well. I would definitely return to this rental for a future ski trip to Devil's Head. Thanks again for everything, Laurel!"

  • Relaxation we were looking for!

"The property is exactly as described. Very secluded, very beautiful, very relaxing. I have an extremely stressful job and work very long hours and this place took all my worries and cares away. The owners are very responsive and very accommodating. It was great to have the ability to bring our family companion dog with us - she enjoyed running throughout the property and splashing in the pond. We look forward to staying here again in the future."

  • Beautiful Home on the Lake with great owners!

"We were in the area for a family reunion, so this house served as home base for our immediate family. Very spacious main floor, great loft/theater area, great walk-out basement for hanging out, beautiful view of the lake, lots of afternoon/evening sun bringing lots of beautiful light into the house. 3 bathrooms, one on each floor -- convenient. We did not go out on the water due to the family reunion schedule, but there were several water recreation options available. Every area of the house was in impeccable condition, clean, maintained, all light switches labeled so you can find the one you're looking for quickly. They have thought of everything. Everything felt brand new. Owners were very friendly and helpful from the first contact, to showing us through the house, to wrapping things up afterwards. Would not hesitate to stay again."
