Location: Vashon Island, Puget Sound, Washington State, USA (15 minute ferry ride from Seattle)
Accommodations: House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 4-6)
Keywords: House
Come unwind at this peaceful 2-plus bedroom, 1 bath cottage on the northwest side of Vashon Island. Situated on a half acre of private waterfront, you can relax on a large deck at the water's edge and watch the incredible sunsets as they transform from golden yellow to pink. Step down from this deck, and you're directly on your own private beach where you can walk out and gather seashells while eagles fly overhead.
Play a game of horseshoes or bocce ball on the extensive front lawn and cook dinner on the outdoor grill or in the fully-stocked kitchen.
The cottage has a large living room where you can cozy up to the wood-burning stove and listen to music or watch movies once the sun goes down. You will wake up to a beautiful view from the master bedroom, and an additional bedroom and bonus room is perfect for guests or children. The kitchen is stocked with everything a cook may desire.
Vashon island is just a 15 minute ferry ride from Seattle and is conveniently accessible by private boat. A dedicated mooring buoy is located directly in front of the property. The cottage is only five to ten minutes from the West Seattle - Vashon ferry landing and five minutes from local island restaurants, theater, and shopping. Numerous hiking/walking and mountain biking trails are nearby and offer spectacular views around the island.
During the summer, stroll through the local farmer's market on Saturday mornings, or visit one of the many farms on the island directly.
If you would like to visit Pike's Place Market and downtown Seattle during the week, take the passenger only ferry direct (30 minutes crossing time) from Vashon to Pier 55 in downtown Seattle.
Vashon Island is home to many painters, potters, jewelers, stained glass artists, musicians, writers and organic farmers. Vashon Allied Arts presents an art showing each month featuring a variety of accomplished local artists. The Gallery Cruise runs the first Friday of every month. Several galleries as well as restaurants and shops are open for this. The first two weekends in May and December are the Potters and Artists tours. Thirty to fifty studios are open, welcoming all.

This was the perfect place to spend a week away reflecting. I had friends out for a dinner party one night and the dining room with its' fabulous chandelier, the entertainment system, beautiful kitchen and gorgeous views could not have offered a better spot to entertain. I spent a sunny day wrapped up in blankets on the deck down at the beach. Waking up in the master bedroom, whether at 2 am or 10 am, offered the most gorgeous views. The bed is divine, very hard to get out of. Really some days I only got out so I could make the bed, because it looked so pretty. I would come back again and again.

The view from the cottage was excellent as shown in the pictures, especialy from the bedroom. Loved theflowers and plants in the yard. We enjoyed the privacy and the closness to the beach and wild life trail. The cottage was clean and nice, bed comfortable, and the owner was easy to work with and accompdating. We had everything we needed to "keep" house and information brochures for sightseeing. The entry door to the kitchen needed a little work and the porch needed sweeping so we didn't tract stuff in all the time, and I would have liked to have been able to have a fire in the wood burning stove, but all in all the place was great and we would recommend it to anyone. We were even greeted by the neighbors sweet dog.

I loved the location and it is very secluded. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. The accomodations are absolutely perfect. There is also a great jacuzzi bath tub that was a welcome surprise. I highly recommend this location. I will be back when I need a few days out of the city.
