The Villa is situated in Menton above the Port of Garavan with a breathtaking panoramic view over the coast from Cap Martin to the Italian Riviera, overlooking the beaches and the 'Old Town' of Menton. The bells from the St. Michele Church can be heard on Sundays.
From the terrace guests can judge the temperature of the sea by the number of people at the beaches. The Villa was built in the '70's in a modern 'style provencal,' set in 3500 sqm2 of sloping land covered with ancient old olive and cypress trees. It is extremely calm in a peaceful environment and all the rooms in the Villa face the sea with its panoramic view.
Menton is one of the most beautiful towns on the Côte d'Azur with several beaches, two Ports, and a charming 'Old Town' area. The streets are lined with Lemon, Orange, and Palm trees Its parks and gardens are splendid.
The 'Old Town' of Menton is full of charm with winding shady streets and footpaths. The old food market in Menton has a fabulous atmosphere and offers an enormous selection of all the delicacies from the Region. There are terraced cafes next to the old fountains with bars and restaurants on the beaches, so there is choice for everyone.
The Front entrance leads into the hall, at this level, there are two bedrooms with a terrace with a spectacular view over the ocean and one bathroom with a separate WC and a walk-in closet. The main stairs lead down to the Salon, Kitchen, Terrace, a master Bedroom, Bathroom suite with a walk-in closet. A den has a double sofa bed which houses as well the washer/dryer units incorporated into a cabinet.
The Salon is 45 sqm2 with a chimney and the large sliding doors lead onto a cover/shaded terrace with wicker/rattan chairs and sofas, all with the spectacular view of the ocean and Menton. There are several seating areas for outside dinners in covered and open areas. There is TV/VCR/DVD as well as a Radio/CD/Cassette stereo. The large Kitchen also has a chimney and is fully-equipped, with electric cooker, microwave/oven, including an 'American' style refrigerator/freezer.
The Bedroom on the ground floor in linked to a bathroom with a bidet and a separate WC plus a large walk-in closet. The bedroom doors lead onto the covered terrace. The garden covers an expansive area with many ancient old Olive and Cypress trees including Mediterranean Pines, Fig Trees, and semi-tropical plants, Banana and Avocado trees, as well as Palm trees. There is also the traditional Oleanda bushes, Orange and Lemon trees which thrive in this Mediterranean climate.
Menton is renowned for its micro-climate, profiting from an extra protection through the immediate mountain range, blocking cold 'Mistral' winds and long rainy periods. The Villa is approximately four to five minutes by car from the Beaches, as well as the town and gardens of Menton, and by foot down the steep donkey path by the side of the Villa it takes 10-15 minutes. The surrounding areas, offer many differing cultural events such as art museums, galleries, and concerts.
Within five minutes drive, you go from the French Riviera to the Italian Riviera with access to restaurants in Ventimiglia, Bordighera, and San Remo including the shops and markets. From the house, the local Supermarket and Bakery is situated in the Port of Garavan. The Villa is approximately 25 minutes drive to Monaco and 35-40 minutes to Nice and the Airport.
