Beautiful property and right on the river. The fire pit was a big highlight and we cooked every meal there while enjoying the beautiful MiddleFork River. We all whitewater kayak but this river is pretty shallow and rocky for the most part so we were pleasantly surprised that the recent rains made this river runnable! We parked our cars at Audra State Park which is an easy drive from the house and a must see. We were able to put out kayaks in right at the house and take a 3 hr trip down the river and had a blast riding some nice class II-III whitewater! Our time spent here at this beautiful cabin was just what we needed. My ONLY complaint, and renters be aware, to get to the cabin you will be driving down a 2 mile gravel/dirt/mud road. I have a brand new Subaru which bottomed out in mud/stone a few times and I put a huge gash down the whole side of my side of my car thanks to a huge rock in the road. So be aware if you have a nice vehicle you don't want getting messed up.

The location was great and the house was very satisfactory. We could have dine with less decorative material on the shelves and elsewhere. There would have been a lot more room without the decorations. We loved the decks anf the patio with the fire pit. We found the people in Buckhannon to be friendly and welcoming. We would return to both the area and to the house on the river.

Owner response: Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and glad you had a nice stay at River's Edge. As we are in a remote location you do have to reach us by a gravel road which is maintained by the county and it was just recently scraped/filled and in really good shape now. Thanks again
Piece of heaven
Piece of heaven
This is the 2nd time that I have stayed at this rental. Except this time my husband came along with my two girls (9 and 12),my mom and our dog. Once again, it was absolutely amazing. Very peaceful and relaxing. Even though there are other cabins near by, it is very secluded. If we ever stay in this area again,,,,it will definitely be here. Very much recommend this place!

Perfect cabin by the river
Perfect cabin by the river
We all (including our dog) had a wonderful time, the cabin is comfortable and has tons of sitting areas. We loved the screened in front porch during the rain and the firepit on the back patio during the evenings. It looked like a terrible storm had recently torn through the trees and the banks of the river had tons of limbs but we were able to get to the river and everyone enjoyed the cold water. We rented a boat at nearby Stonewall Jackson Lake and that's another must do while visiting. We hope to be back again next year!

We had a wonderful time! It was me and my family, along with a friend, and of course our Chocolate Lab. The dog just loved being in the river. We took full advantage of the fire pit with the grilling grate and the weather was beautiful. We are thinking of going back in the fall. I would recommend this place for anyone who wants to slow down for awhile.

I took my wife, 2 boys (2 and 6), and my parents to this cabin for vacation. We all really enjoyed the cabin. The boys ran around and played in the yard and floated in the water. I enjoyed sitting out at night on the patio watching the stars. The only sound was the water. There is plenty to do within a reasonable distance if you plan on sightseeing.
