Our family of four (2 adults, 2 young kids)stayed in the music maker from 7/23-7/30. It was perfect! We could easily walk into town,on a dedicated bike/walk path, to swim in the bay, dine out or visit historical attractions and shops! Wanted to point out that the cabin is located on the Lake Superior shoreline but you do have to walk a bit over the sand dunes to get to the shore. You can't see the Lake Superior shoreline from the property without walking over the dune. Our 3 year old had a bit of trouble navigating the sandy dune and ended up getting quite a few piggy back rides over the course of the week! Not a deal-breaker in my opinion!! We'll be back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We just returned from staying at the Music Maker for a week. It was perfect for three adults. The cabin was immaculately clean. The beds were extremely comfortable, despite only a double and two twins. There is a new washer and dryer which we put to use washing sandy and Deet filled clothing after hiking around the Pictured Rocks lakeshore. In each bedroom were oscillating fans that kept the air moving in stuffy evenings. There were videos, DVDs, board games, and books all available in the cabin for entertainment. The location was excellent. Lake Superior was only a short walk away over the dunes. We watched beautiful sunsets and the Grand Marais light come on in the evenings. My only complaints have to do with to do with the cooking equipment. The frying pan needed to be replaced. The Teflon was coming off it and it was almost impossible to clean. A grill is on the porch but the grate was so rusted that we we unwilling to use it. We would definitely return to the Music Maker in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, families with young children, adventure seekers.

My husband and I have stayed at Music Maker twice and will no doubt do so again. For a small cottage, it has lots of amenities. The Lake Superior shore is a short walk over the dune behind the cottage and provides peaceful solitude. We highly recommend watching the sunset while enjoying a campfire out the back door. There’s a fair amount of dining options in Grand Marais (but we love the pizza at the Dunes Saloon best) and it’s easy to spend several days exploring the Pictured Rocks area. The Music Maker is a good base for activities in the eastern U.P. and we especially appreciate that the cottage is pet friendly so our dog can enjoy the area just as much as we do.Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
