We rented this home for parent's weekend at FSU. It is very clean and the views from the deck are just gorgeous. The home is for sale and it shows. Very few dishes; no wine glasses; old towels. The master shower had no water to it and when we contacted the owner she explained that it was leaking and they had turned off the water - a repair that should have been made prior to our arrival. No directions to work the elevator and no information available about grocery stores, etc.- also no wi fi to look anything up on a computer. Very few tv channels available (we couldn't watch the Fla/Ga. game). This could be an amazing rental but it would really need some attention first.Owner response: Glad you enjoyed it! We have addressed the elevator instructions, which we did not know were missing, and the plumbing issue. I did respond to the email regarding them while you were there and since I heard nothing back, I assumed it was fixed. Thanks for pointing out the other issues. We will address those as well. Yes, the home has been for sale ever since we put it with vrbo and we are pleased to receive 4 and 5 star ratings. As far as the tv, we hope renters will enjoy the beauty of the area and the gulf when they are visitng. We do have a satellite which is a basic package, but does give us the top 120 channels. As far as the local channels, they can be difficult to pick up as they are broadcast locally and not through satellite. Unfortunately, we do not offer wifi or internet access and do not advertise to do so. Thanks for staying with us!

You know how you can't decide if you want the beautiful aesthetics of a quiet wetlands cocaphany of birdsong and the ocean beyond without the noise of blaring radios and kids on spring break, versus, stepping out and being on the ocean with the beauty of access right there and people around to socialize with? Well, here, at this beautifully appointed home, you have it all! The quiet of Oyster Bay is amazing and private, with the beautiful long boardwalk to your private dock and wetlands full of every imaginable bird prior to the lovely pristine ocean. Neighbors are there is you want to seek them out, but no where to be found if not. The home is perfect! The kids loved the loft bedroom, the older daughter, the private lower bedroom, and we..our amazing master with jacuzzi tub, overlooking that amazing view. We couldn't have been happier and we stayed a couple months! Don't miss this one. It's an absolute winner. And the owners are incredibly amenable to boot! Thank you with all our hearts Jennifer!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

The home was very lovely and had very nice furnishings. We enjoyed the layout of the home and the loft provided a great hangout for our kids to play and rest with the 4 beds upstairs. As a boater I would have loved to take advantage of the dockage (deep water) but despite the fact that we didn't bring our boat, we had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed the direct gulf view! I recommend the property wholeheartedly.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This home is absolutely beautiful and provided us with a wonderful place to stay for our vacation over Labor Day weekend. It was clean, plenty of linens, lovely decor, well-stocked with towels, dishes and the like., and the A/C was kickin'! The view from the deck was pretty all the time, but at sundown it was just beautiful. We managed to be there between Hurricanes Fay and Gustav, so the fishing was a little off and the water was murky.A warning about the bay - it is called Oyster Bay for a reason. There are multiple oyster beds to maneuver around getting out to the open water, and many of the markers are missing. The locals can tell you the best way to get out, though....there is a small gap in an oyster bed that gets you out with no problem. Get someone to show you where that is! Also, the elevator in the house is a little iffy, and there was no blender in the kitchen. But these are not dealbreakers, just things to be aware of for planning purposes. Overall we were very pleased with the house and property, and had a wonderful experience.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful, private home for a few days the middle of July 2008. What a refreshing surprise this place was. I own a Travel Agency in Birmingham, A Dream Vacation, and would highly recommend it. It's fully stocked with everything you might need including an elevator to make your arrival and departures much nicer! We rented a boat from Shell Island which is in St. Marks, a short distance east. At this time the fee was $150 per day or $35 per hour. They have 17 to 20 ft. open boats and pontoons. This was lots and lots of fun and really made our trip. We also ate at Jimmy's in St. Marks and the food was wonderful although it is a very casual place. I had the grilled grouper with fresh veges and we had the fried crab claws for an appetizer that were wonderful. Husband had steak and said it was great. The buffets we found were fried, fried and fried. Not my cup of tea and priced at about $25 per person which would be fine for a meal you actually enjoyed. I recommend you stop at a larger city on your way to the house and get all the groceries you want as there is very little grocery shopping available, although there are quite a few convenience stores and Dollar Generals. I did see a small grocery store but didn't go in. I hear that Angelo's in Panacea is good (they have a website) but didn't stay long enough to try it out. The sunrise from your deck is amazing. T.V. in living room and Master bedroom have cable and some music channels. You will love this house if you're seeking solitude and relaxation...we sure did! I worked with Chad, one of the owners, who was very easy to communicate with and always called me back promptly with any question. He was a pleasure and made the whole process easy! Overall we had a wonderful time and would definately go back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
