Classic, restored 1920's cottage is located in a small, peaceful river town on a quiet road that winds for miles along unobstructed, panoramic views of the river. Being on the main channel(not on backwater) gives you a perfect vantage point. From sunroom & livingroom windows, you see sky & WATER--close & beautiful. The railroad tracks/train noise are not a problem here.
The water, light and sky are exquisite in every season. The cottage is filled with light; from inside or outside, sunrises and the moon over the river are unforgettable. Walks in the rosy morning light are beautiful. The large gourmet kitchen and dining area open to a large, brick patio for dining & grilling. Enjoy a fire in the fire ring while you watch the moon on the River.
There are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the second with a double and single bed. More than 5 guests with approval at reservation. Livingroom sofa is daybed size.
The cottage, at the edge of Dakota, is secluded from residential neighbors. There are no houses between the cottage and the river. A stroll across the quiet road takes you to the confluence of the Dakota and the Mississippi Rivers and a small boat landing, river access, and excellent fishing. Two miles down the road is a larger boat landing and white sandy beach with blue,clear water all summer & fall. It is worth a stay to watch the sky, light, water, eagles and tundra swans. You are also on the historic Great River Roadway, one of America's Scenic Byways. This is the perfect place for gathering friends and family in all seasons.
Nearby are many activities--extensive WI/MN trails. Great dining & antiquing in the scenic rivertowns along the Great River Roadway. The cottage is excellent for birdwatching; an eagle family lives in the Dakota Eagle Tree framed by the sunroom window. BOAT RENTALS AVAILABLE; ask owner. DIRECT TV.

Why the Owner Chose La Crosse
Dakota has the most open views along the Mississippi. The setting is superb because the railroad tracks are not in your yard--which is the situation with many of the river cottages. The location is simply tranquil and peaceful. You have complete privacy but are not far away from the things you want to do.
