We stayed at the Blue Spruce cottage for our son's wedding. It was a delighful cottage with all the basic needs provided. It was very clean and plenty of linens. It even had things we hadn't expected to have like paper products & spices. Our chocolate lab loved her daily swim time whether it was rain or shine. Being fall, there were few people around and it was very peaceful. The morning sunrises (when it wasn't raining) were spectacular!! A close drive to Bangor for any needs you might have. Laurie & Tom were wonderful! We needed to extend our stay and they were very accomodating. I would recommend this cottage to anyone travelling to the Bangor area! We hope to return again in the future!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A really wonderful place to spend some relaxing time. Cottage is great, well appointed and cosy. Was spotless when we got there, wood for the firepit in place and everything ready to go. Only 10 miles to Bangor so not far to get essentuals but far enough away to forget about the city ( a small shop is just down the road for emergencies ) Contact with the owner was super, very friendly. They even arranged to post a jacket I'd left behind back to me, in Germany! I'd not hessitate to recommend this as a holiday destination and can only hope to go back sometime soonDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We were delighted to find the cottage everything we had imagined..The view of the lake was amazing..We found that everything you could need had been supplied. Our 8 year old granddaughter from California wanted to fish and was delighted to catch multiple fish that she learned to return to their home in the lake..The canoe was loads of fun and she loved touring the area..If you are looking for a quiet vacation spot on the lake this will provide a wonderful vacation!!!! My family (wife, three-year old boy, two-year old boy, and dog) and I stayed here for a week in early July. It's a fine little cottage with a great location. There is a park nearly next-door that had a boat launch and a floating slide. The dock at the cottage is in good condition and they have a fine recreational canoe to paddle around the lake. We did not do any fishing but we saw lots of fish, which entertained the three-year old nearly every morning. The cottage is very much a "cottage" so don't expect any luxuries. It has everything you need, but not everything you might want. The biggest concern is the stairs leading up to the second floor. These stairs are very, very steep. The "kids" bedroom (two twins and a double) is on the second floor but the stairs are far too steep for children. We ended up all sleeping upstairs so that we could make sure that the three-year old did not try to negotiate the stairs by himself. I had to carry him up and down and I even found that I had to take one step at a time. The owners were very helpful and prompt to respond to question and the home was clean and well prepared for our arrival. I would recommend this cottage.Did you find this review helpful? We spent a week at Blue Spruce Cottage and I can honestly say that there is not one single complaint. In comparison to a hotel, you have an unbeatable price, a beautiful scenery, peace and quiet, privacy, ability to cook and relax. We loved being able to open the windows at night and fall asleep to the sound of the lake. The kids loved it, the dog was comfortable, the neighbors were friendly, we had no one bothering us and it was well stocked. The place was absolutely perfect! We are planning to make an annual vacation here!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Such a nice cozy camp. Loved that it was so close to the water and the loons made their daily appearance. Place was clean, well maintained, well stocked and perfect for a restful week. It felt sad to drive away Saturday morning, I miss the lapping of the water to ease me to sleep and the call of the loons to wake me up in the morning. The property is right on the lake! Cute place. Smaller than I expected but cute. Our grandson stayed with us for two days and enjoyed fishing. The lake is rocky so bring old sneakers or water shoes to swim. I wish I had known that. Two television stations,,,no news ..no sports ..that was a big deal for us.We did not like that . We like to stay abreast with news and sports or at least have that option. There were a lot of tapes so if that works for you...you are all set. Cottage well stocked...If you want the paper or forgot something there is a convenience store on Pawshaw road that is excellent. Stairs to the upstairs steep and narrow. We were careful going down those stairs as a few extra anti slip strips are missing. Lake is quiet and peaceful. Went to the casino's buffet twice. EXCELLENT!!!. Nicky's on Union St. had great 50's song and had great food . Grandson enjoyed Blackbeards stock car racing and arcade .Enjoyed seeing where Stephen King lived and the water park on Union St. WE got to see the second largest planes in the world--watched one of them take off at the airport, WOW!! We loved that opportunity.Recommended for: Sightseeing.
Owner response: Basic cable is provided at this cottage. Unfortunately there was an issue with the cable during this guest's stay that we were not aware of until after their departure. We make every effort to ensure our cottage meets your expectations and will immediately respond to any issue during your stay.

My best friend from childhood and I decided to bring our boys (ages 9, 11, 14) here for summer vacation. The location of the cottage (between the coast and Greenville) was one of our first attractions. However, once we arrived, I realized the cottage itself was perfect! We loved being on the lake, the water bringing gorgeous reflections of the rising sun, birds in abundance...absolutely peaceful!! The canoe was a hit! And I think the fish literally jumped out of the water onto the boys' hooks! Sitting outside early in the morning and again late in the evening, talking, listening to the sounds of the lake, while a fire burned in the pit was very relaxing. The cottage is very clean and well-maintained! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Yes there are loons in the lake and you can watch them morning noon and night. One evening we watched an eagle swoop down over the lake and fly north for the entire length of the lake only a couple feet from the surface. Quiet morning and quiet nights made for a very restful time. My 3 granddaughters (3,5,7) caught their first fish from the dock. At night I still had the feeling I was at sea as I looked out the windows over the lake and would see the lights from the houses across the lake which to me look like the lights of ships at sea. We also visited the Penobscot Observation Tower and Fort Kent, definitely worth the ride. The view from the tower is incredible and the history and the workings of the fort and remarkable. I also did some bike riding and some kayaking. At night I would say to myself this is what it must be to be retired...not there yet but soon.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing.

This place was perfect. 4 of us spent the labor day weekend in Glenburn for my grandson's christening. Plenty of room and convenient to my daughter's place less than 1 mile away. The grandkids spent Saturday evening in the lake enjoying the crystal clear water. Sunrise was breathtaking and the sun rose over the lake. We watched a mother duck and her older ducklings making their way south each morning. The place was emaculate when we arrived and had everthing we needed. It was so quiet at night and on the lake. At night as you looked across the lake the lights on the other side looked like ships at sea. Very quiet and very pleasant.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children.
