19 Bittern Street is a comfortable 1,600 square foot beach home in the heart of North Forest Beach on beautiful Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. This home is ideal for quiet family vacations. Please read more below about the house, the North Forest Beach area and the Island.

The House:
* Two story
* 4 Bedrooms – each with a Queen sized bed
* 2 Full Baths with shower/tub combo
* Twin bed in upstairs hall
* Ceramic Tile throughout common areas with Carpet in Bedrooms
* Begin your morning on 8' x 25' front deck & listen to the ocean while drinking your coffee
* Spacious Great Room with two story ceiling
* Kitchen is open to Great Room and has a large table that seats 10 people
* Great Room/Kitchen has twin 8' sliding glass doors that open to 12' x 25' deck with gas grill
* Open the bedroom windows and enjoy the rush of the ocean

The North Forest Beach area of Hilton Head Island is one of the most well known and loved by those who frequent the island. Within walking distance of the house are:

The Beach – 19 Bittern is the 3rd house (just 100 yards) from the PRIVATE BEACH. Trips from the beach to the house for food, restroom breaks, etc. take only a minute or so.

Coligny Plaza has a grocery store as well as a variety of Shops, a Bakery (great for breakfast!), Restaurants (Steamers is one of our personal favorites) and “hometown” bars, a small Movie Theater and various Family Entertainment.

Tiki Hut, a Hilton Head institution, is situated on the beach just a short 5 minute walk from the house. They have live music and serve every kind of frozen drink you could ever want.

Within a short walk or bike ride is:
* Wild Wing Restaurant – the best wings you will ever have. They have a very large variety of wings as well as other great food.
* NY City Pizza – best pizza EVER.
* Plantation Deli – they have great breakfast and awesome sandwiches for lunch.
* Grocery Stores – several different grocery stores are within 5 minutes of the house.

Within a short drive:
* Movie Theaters (multi screen)
* Water Park
* Harbour Town Lighthouse
* Golf Courses
* There are two large outlet malls just off the island

The Island:

Renowned as one of the world's most family-friendly destinations, Hilton Head Island offers unlimited opportunities for family memories and was recently named one of the top ten family beaches in the country.

If you have never visited Hilton Head Island, you are in for a welcome surprise. In a world full of neon signs and crude “attractions”, Hilton Head is a calm oasis. Though it has many family friendly attractions, its land remains pristine. By design, there is a sensitive nod to the environment; buildings are set back from the main roads, showcasing the native pines and oaks. Colors are not flamboyant and bright; instead, they are subdued and blend with the natural environment. A progressive land purchasing program undertaken by town leadership ensures that there's plenty of green wherever you go. This may sound like no big deal, but everyone that visits Hilton Head notices it immediately. (It’s probably the only place in the world without “the golden arches” at McDonald’s.)

Of course, Hilton Head is well known for the golf. Every April, the Verizon Heritage PGA TOUR golf tournament is played in Hilton Head Island and the Hilton Head Celebrity Golf Tournament is held on Labor Day Weekend.

Weekly rental is from Saturday to Saturday with check in time being 4:00 PM and check out time being 10:00 AM. No pets allowed. This is a NON-SMOKING house.

Payment may be made through Paypal. Please scroll down to our rental schedule to find your weekly rate. A 50% deposit is required to secure your reservation. The remaining 50% and a refundable $150.00 security deposit are due thirty days before your arrival date. The security deposit will be refunded after keys are returned and the property has been inspected. Cleaning and linens are included in the weekly price.

Cancellation Policy: Reservations canceled more than 60 days prior to arrival date will receive a full refund. Reservations canceled within 60 days of arrival date will not receive a refund of the deposit unless the same dates are rented at full rate.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes

We built this home in 1980 as a family vacation retreat. We have offered our home for rental because we want to share this fantastic location with great families like yours. As with all real estate, it's about location, location, location. We've got that covered. North Forest Beach is a calm unpretentious beach community. The quiet beach and close proximity to Coligny Plaza are just a few reasons we chose this area. We have made so many wonderful memories at this house, I hope you get the chance to experience the same with your family as well.

In the early 70's, my wife and I discovered Hilton Head Island and it was love at first sight. We sold our lake cabin, purchased this lot and began making plans to build a beach house. As a general contractor, I always dreamed of building a vacation retreat. We cherish time spent at 19 Bittern with our children and grandchildren.

    • 19 Bittern has been a part of our family's vacations since the owners first purchased the home in the early 80's. This location is so accesible to everything on the island that you could ever want and more. For our family, it's just not a vacation if we don't stay in this particular house. We absolutely love it and always have, for the last 28 years or so that we have been staying there. Hilton Head Island is a treasure, but the private beach access and the close proximity to Coligny Plaza, the bakery, the shopping and dining and everything else makes this house the PERFECT vacation spot on HHI. It's a family tradition that we recommend and that we plan to continue every year. Thanks to the owners for making it such a treat for us every year without fail.

    • This was our first stay in this House but our 15th year on Hilton Head and we can't think of a better place to stay. The house had a great open living space for a large group and was so close to the beach and Coligny. We also enjoyed the large deck and felt the kitchen was very nicely stocked with everything we needed. We will definitely stay here again.

    • Location, Location, Location! This is the perfect spot on HHI. The beach could not be better, you are far enough away from the hotels that you don’t fight for a spot on the beach, yet you are close enough to walk to Coligny Plaza to cool off. Don’t feel like putting your make-up on to go out for dinner? Enjoy the evening on the deck with some hot dogs on the grill. We have vacationed at this house for years and would never think of staying anywhere else on the island. It cannot be matched for the quality and price!

    • The house was exactly as pictured. It was very nice and clean. The locaton was perfect -- so close to the beach and shops, ice cream, Java Joe's! Enjoyed the walking/bath path for walks each morning. Great house for the price and location!

    • We had a perfect time in this vacation rental. Located minutes from the beautiful North Forest Beach where we found sand dollars, star fish and a variety of other sea shells. Great for the kids! The house was amazing. The deck was great to unwind and the house was comfortable and relaxing. We were walking distance to Caligny Plaza where we could find everything we needed. Great bike rides through ocean front homes! Would highly recommend this house. Great price! Great time.

    • What a great vacation house!! We have vacationed on HHI for years, and this house is, by far, our favorite. It is super close to the beach (perfect for trips back to the house with kids), clean, and within walking distance to everything (a bakery, grocery store, multiple restaurants, shopping, outdoor shows for kids, ice cream shop, etc.). North Forest Beach is the perfect place to be on HHI, and this house allows you to enjoy all of it at a great price!
