Great Location for the Savannah Marathon
Great Location for the Savannah Marathon
We had a group of 3 couples doing the 2013 Savannah Marathon and chose this upper level 3/2 apartment a short 3 short blocks from the race finish at Forsyth Park and a mile from the start in the historic downtown. You'll likely want a car or rent a bike to get to downtown. This is a regular neighborhood where locals live away from the touristy downtown. Homes in this area are large two story places built at a time when craftsmen built homes with quality and character. The homes are all big on relatively narrow lots with a gravel lane running behind. We walked to the Kroger 2 blocks away for groceries. This unit is a large apartment on the second level. It has wonderful hardwood floors, high ceilings, crown moldings, porches front and back, and fireplaces in all rooms (non-functioning). Access is via a wide staircase at the front door (the door on the left in their photo) and also a steep fire escape type stairway off the back porch that leads to the back yard and laneway parking. We enjoyed coffee on both the front porch (off the 3rd bedroom) and the back porch (off the kitchen). Modern upgrades include granite counters, halogen lighting, modern appliances, flat screen TVs and awesome showers. The kitchen is reasonably equipped with a breakfast bar, wet bar and a pantry that was useful. I've recommended to the owner that the kitchen could use some more cooking and eating items - more pots, pans, bowls, glasses dishes, salt, pepper. The hall bathroom has a huge shower with jets from every direction. The 2nd has a big jacuzzi tub and double sinks. Be aware that the photos of the living/dining areas are not accurate, I think they mixed photos from the downstairs unit with the upstairs. THERE IS NO DINING ROOM upstairs. What the photos show as the dining room with the big table must be downstairs as that room is a living room upstairs. The bedrooms are all huge with top quality furnishings, linens and mattresses. We slept extremely well. There is a big laundry room with full-sized washer and dryer which we found very handy. The folks at Savannah Dreams who manage this and several other properties were friendly and quick to respond although very adamant about their rules which was a bit off-putting. Given our group and our reason for being in Savannah this was the ideal property for us.

Manager response: We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay in 506. Hope the marathon went well for you! Thanks for your pointers...we will update the kitchen inventory this weekend. You are correct about the dinning room, there is none in the upstairs, the pics on here are upper and lower mixed and the dinning room is from the lower. The upper has a living room only, the lower a dinning room/LR combo. If you go to our own website you can see the correct pics for each unit. . We look forward to hosting you next year downstairs!

Our visit to beautiful Savannah was enhanced by staying in this gorgeous townhouse. It is a very clean and beautifully decorated/restored home. It is located conveniently to all of historic Savannah and to modern conveniences such as Kroger's a few blocks away. We have enjoyed staying in Charleston several times in the past, but Savannah is now our favorite! Manderly was most helpful in making reservations and answering any questions we had. We look forward to returning in the near future.

What a wonderful Home. The attention to detail just blew us away. From the hardwood floors to the crown molding everything in this Home had been restored. We stayed in a few homes before, but never one like this. You always seem to find a few places were corners got cut, but this was marvelous. If you are looking for a great Home, super clean, this is the one. Anette

Loved the Home, gorgeous decor. Jacuzzi tub was great after the race. Good location, we never used the car. Kroger`s is only 2 blocks away !! Owners are super friendly, we locked ourselves out, they were there in 10 min to let us in, on a Saturday night !! If we ever come back we`ll stay here.

Manager response: Hello Clinton Glad you enjoyed it. We`re actually in the process of replacing all locks with keyless ones, so no more locking out :) .
We stayed in this Home and loved every minute of it. We met the owners wife and she told us about all the work they did to restore it. They did a great job, the house is gorgeous. We loved the kitchen with the breakfast bar and the shower with the body sprays is a great idea too. The Home is in the historic downtown, on a quite side street, but we love it a bit quieter anyway. You can walk to everywhere and krogers is only 2 blocks away. Can`t wait to get back.

Thanks for making your beautiful home available for us. What a great kitchen! And the decor is wonderful! It made a great change from the usual hotel. We loved being close to Forsyth Park, and thanks for all your recommendations. Tybee Island was well worth the drive. Loved sitting outside the Sixpence Pub, and the Honey House on Broughton St is well worth a visit. Lots of great things to do and see! Thanks again!

I own a small restaurant in TN and brought my employees to Savannah for the weekend as a little bonus. I kept my expectations low regarding our accommodations, since things are not always as they appear to be online. But...WOW. This house is even better in real life than it looks in the pictures. My staff and I had a wonderful trip to Savannah and I honestly believe that some of that is due in part to our stay in this lovely home. We really didn't want to leave!

Jeanne, I just wanted to let you know what a wonderful time I had in your condo. It was perfect! The beautiful details in every decoration and the comfort made me fall in love with it! I would love to come back and stay again! Are you a designer? Whatever the name of the style you decorated in is amazing. I even took pictures of it! If you need any referrals I'd be more than happy to provide them! Thanks! Deanna

About: We are Roman and Manderly. I`m a jack of all trades and Manderly is a licensed Massage Therapist. I`m from Germany and Manderly is from here. I`ve been traveling all my Life and have been all over the world and have to say that Savannah is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The history, architecture, and local culture of Savannah are all unique. What better way to experience the architecture and history of Savannah than staying in a beautiful historic home? I really can't think of any.
When I traveled thru Savannah in 1994 for the first time, I immediately fell in love with the City. I knew then that I wanted to own a piece of history. I also knew I wanted it to be in the historic downtown, I like to walk and really see the Homes. Of course so did everyone else. When the opportunity finally arose in 2007 to acquire this historic House it was a dream come true. After nearly 2 years of renovation it`s restored to it`s former beauty, but with all the amenities of modern live. Come and experience History.
