Great New York find!

Guest: Helaine L.

We stayed at the Maplewood home as we were meeting family in the area. It was convenient to get to from the airport. The home was spotless and the kitchen was well equipped. In fact, we found the amenities to be better than we had expected. The owners also left us information about the local restaurants which we found very helpful. We also found it easy to take the train into NYC. We would definitely stay here on another trip to the New York area.

Home Away From Home

As others have said, the house is clean and just as described/advertised and the town itself is very, very nice. It was wonderfully relaxing coming home to a house rather than just a hotel room after long days in New York City. (It was also good value for our group of 7 people.) We really felt at home away from home and we can't wait to return. I have already referred friends to this property. Thanks!

hostel standards at mid to high end prices

Guest: michael c.
Date of Stay: 09/11/11 Review Submitted: 10/10/11

This house is in a beautiful location in the super village of Maplewood. The house itself is disappointing. It is very tired and has a shoddy feel to it. The bathrooms have not been renovated in years as the photos show. The plumbing matches the bathroom. Interestingly on the owners website the two pictures of both bathrooms do not show the baths and are the only two photos unable to be enlarged!! People with small children should be wary of scalding water in the showers when another tap is used simultaneously in the house. The kitchen is ill equipped with pans without handles and not even a chopping board. The use of a hair drier continually tripped the fuse box necessitating a trip to the fuse board in the damp basement. On our arrival none of the smoke detectors were working. If you are expecting youth hostel standards at mid to high end prices this is the place for you.

Wonderful!

Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home! It was so nice to come home to a nice house rather than a hotel after long days at work while our crew was doing a job in New Jersey. It was so nice to live in a quiet neighborhood and still be able to get into New York easily for those of us that wanted an adventure. This is a beautiful house and really does have everything you need at your home away from home. Wonderful!!!

If we return to the area we will definitely stay here again!

The house was a perfect base for our vacation and provided excellent accomodation for my Wife and I and 3 teenagers. It was great to return to somewhere peaceful and relaxing after hectic days in the city. The house itself was very well maintained and in an ideal location providing just the right balance between convenience for travelling into New York and a quiet suburban location. If we return to the area we will definitely stay here again!

Lovely Holiday!

Guest: Judy from Stafford (Stafford, UK)
Date of Stay: 04/09/10 Review Submitted: 05/11/10

My whole family (3 generations) enjoyed a lovely holiday in Maplewood. We had an extended stay due the volcano eruption and were delighted that we were able to stay on at the house. After our first (planned) hectic 10 days we were able to enjoy the sunshine and relaxation on the deck during our 'extra time' The house suited us really well and Maplewood was lovely. So many places to eat there and we became locals in the Irish pub! It's a bit too far to walk to the house and back when you come back home from the city, so a drink and then dinner and then just one walk up the hill was just the ticket.

Had the most wonderful time staying in Maplewood at this great home. The house was very comfortable and the heat worked well. The walk to the train was so nice, and just like that you are right at Penn Station in Manhattan! (The train was also easy to understand, the house is furnished with plenty of train schedules.) The town of Maplewood is a very special place. My friends and I fell in love so much that we considered looking at real estate there! Just down the street from the house are a great little juice bar and a yoga center, which we enjoyed in the mornings. Then we would walk through the precious little downtown Maplewood where there are restaurants, coffee shops, a little fish market, a bakery, etc, and then to the train. Plus, the house is just down the street from one of the nicest Whole Foods I have ever been to, which provided us with delicious groceries. We also really liked Arturo's in town- delicious Italian food. The house was everything we were looking for, and is a really neat New Jersey home. The neighbors were even nice. In all, a picturesque location and home. Thank you!

This charming and well-equipped house was a good basis for my wife and I and 3 adult children with their partners. It was warm (although there were some chilly days in January) and spacious enough, and travelling to New York and elsewhere is quick and comfortable. It was fine that we could always reach Nicole and get advice in our problems. Everyone ofe us was very satisfied. Many thanks.
