Shop and see the New York sights - come home to relax in your back yard, lounge on the deck, or sit and read by the fire; plenty of space to relax in the living room or den, as well as dining seating (both indoor and outdoor) for 8 people.

Very clean house, mattresses and bedding looked new, furniture felt clean and new. It is an older house and seen accurately in pictures, but it is well maintained with the age in mind. Seems freshly painted. Kitchen well stocked.. Never found the cheese grater though. hehe My little girls loved the space in the house to play and the space in the yard. We raked paths through the leaves and they had a great time running around the huge backyard. In the house, games and toys provided were new and fun to have. My teen and tween girls are bug-phobic so I promised to wipe down baseboards and corners in the upstairs attic bedroom to calm their fears. I did first two nights and found two tiny spiders each time. After that they were relaxed for the rest of the stay. The house is very clean and uncluttered so you feel comfortable and like its your space. We did clog a tub drain while we were they. But there are two tubs anyway and Nicole had it fixed quickly and at our convenience. It's a nice neighbourhood. The street is moderately busy, but the driveway and backyard is far back from it so I felt comfortable with my 2 yo, 4 yo and 6 yo getting in and out of vehicle and playing in back yard with supervision but not having to watch every second. Relaxing sitting no the deck and enjoying the beautiful fall weather. We decided to drive into NYC instead of transit because we were worried about taking 6 kids on transit. We printed coupons from parking garages online and with gps simulated the drive and then used during drive to get to parking destination. It worked well for us. Simulating beforehand was important. It was stressfu, but for us less stressful than worrying about loosing a child on the transit. We went apple picking to the east one day. (even bought apples back to Canada with no problem when claimed at customs. maybe because Alberta doesn't have a fruit industry.) trees were beautiful. Felt like drivingandwalking through a postcard. Went to beach at Belmar one day. It was beautiful. Boardwalk there destroyed by Sandy the next week though. We also parked at statin island for $8, took the free ferry over to manhattan, walked around south manhattan. The other 2 days we did mid-manhattan and parked at port authority near times square about $24 and then parked by central park east the last day. Our vehicle was oversized and not all parking garages take over sized vehicles and some charge extra, about $15.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We were a large party of 8 Adults celebrating an 18th Birthday and would highly recommend this fantastic house that had everything you could possibly want or need when you are away from home. In a freindly little American suburb that had plenty of places to eat (highly recommend the Park Wood Dinner). Loved my hoilday this year - and got engaged whooooop whoooopRecommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I have wished for many years to show my "western" kids the NYC I love. It would never have been so wonderful without our "Maplewood home" and the caring help from our landlord. We brought two families to share the experience with a family living in PA. Plus, we, as grandparents! The house was very well equipped for the cooking we like to do and the large group we were. We had privacy and togetherness. We were very pleased to find the room air conditioners gave us comfort in the newness of "humidity". The laundry facility worked well. The area and neighborhood made us feel like real easterners, and we liked that. Easy to get to NYC and pleasant in Maplewood. Thank you for maintaining such a wonderful opportunity for visitors. All of your obvious effort was very appreciated.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

I could not have been happier with the entire experience! I had 6 family members from France rent the Maplewood Home and everything far exceeded our expectations! We were nervous about not seeing the inside of the home prior to my family's arrival, but were pleasantly surprised upon opening the front door. Everything was immaculate, the rooms were big, beds were comfortable, and the home is just beautiful! Truly a wonderful experience.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed at the Maplewood home as we were meeting family in the area. It was convenient to get to from the airport. The home was spotless and the kitchen was well equipped. In fact, we found the amenities to be better than we had expected. The owners also left us information about the local restaurants which we found very helpful. We also found it easy to take the train into NYC. We would definitely stay here on another trip to the New York area.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 15/15

As others have said, the house is clean and just as described/advertised and the town itself is very, very nice. It was wonderfully relaxing coming home to a house rather than just a hotel room after long days in New York City. (It was also good value for our group of 7 people.) We really felt at home away from home and we can't wait to return. I have already referred friends to this property. Thanks!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 14/14

This house is in a beautiful location in the super village of Maplewood. The house itself is disappointing. It is very tired and has a shoddy feel to it. The bathrooms have not been renovated in years as the photos show. The plumbing matches the bathroom. Interestingly on the owners website the two pictures of both bathrooms do not show the baths and are the only two photos unable to be enlarged!! People with small children should be wary of scalding water in the showers when another tap is used simultaneously in the house. The kitchen is ill equipped with pans without handles and not even a chopping board. The use of a hair drier continually tripped the fuse box necessitating a trip to the fuse board in the damp basement. On our arrival none of the smoke detectors were working. If you are expecting youth hostel standards at mid to high end prices this is the place for you.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/16

Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home! It was so nice to come home to a nice house rather than a hotel after long days at work while our crew was doing a job in New Jersey. It was so nice to live in a quiet neighborhood and still be able to get into New York easily for those of us that wanted an adventure. This is a beautiful house and really does have everything you need at your home away from home. Wonderful!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
