Single level, ranch style home situated in a rural setting. The property fronts a dead end side road with little traffic influence. Yard areas are natural lawn and mature forest. South exposure is provided with some mountain views. The dwelling offers an open living design with living room, dining room and kitchen under a vaulted ceiling with ample window area. A hallway offers good separation for sleeping areas with 4 good sized bedrooms, one with an ensuite bath,(corner shower), plus a main bath with a soaker tub. Large deck, partially covered, adjoins the dining and kitchen area. Living room area has a wood stove and wood is provided.

- This property is a two minute walk to Old Mill Provincial Park. The sandy public beach is a 3 minute walk on a trail through a forest of mature fir, cedar and maple trees. Old Mill Park is 17 acres of naturally treed lake-front park, with walking trails through forest and along west facing Shawnigan Lake shores. Public boat launch is within 2 minute drive from the property. Property is within 2 minute drive to 2 other public beaches, Government Wharf beach and Mason's beach, (Mason's store located across from Mason's beach sells ice cream cones to go with your summer swimming.) Boat launch at Government Wharf. Property is 2 minute drive from The Galley Restaurant and boat/jet ski rental. Located 10 minute drive to Mill Bay and 25 minute from Cowichan Bay. The location was good and the house had lots of space however, the place was not clean and had a weird smell. Though it could sleep 10 people, there were only enough dishes for 6 people which didn't work for us. They do require you to wash all your bedding and towels before you leave and we found this difficult when leaving early in the morning to catch the ferry. Front porch was falling apart and was very unsafe. There is potential here, but you do get what you pay for.

Owner response: The house sleeps 10 and is spacious and so far I have charged the same for 2 people as for 10 people. I told your daughter, who arrived a couple days before you, that if she needed anything, my number is on the fridge and I live next door. I had more settings available but was unaware they were required, untill the last day of your stay when I went to collect a nominal fee I charged you for an extra day you had previously requested. At that time you informed me the counters were sticky and there weren't enough place settings. Renters are required to clean their own messes and I go and check the house and make sure everything is clean. Before your stay I was ill and sent my husband. He did a lot of vacuuming and mopping, but apparently missed the sticky counters. I do require people wash the bedding they use and so the more people they bring in, the more work they have. They do not have to make up the beds, just wash the bedding. I have not charged more per person like hotels and motels do. The porch roof is a in need of repair but is not unsafe and the stairs are fine. We have left this repair at the bottom of a list of re-roofing the 1680 square foot house, replacing all the carpeting, installing laminate floors in the dining room and living room, installing a huge deck that includes 14" stairway access from the second driveway to the kitchen entry. We just installed a new toilet and sink in the main bathroom, where the soaker tub is. I am sorry that you didn't enjoy this beautiful home the way my family has for 20 years, and so many families that have enjoyed it for the last 4 years, including those who return each summer.
