Privacy is yours! Our charming beachfront cottage is situated on six acres of undisturbed land near the end of a two-mile pink sand beach. It's perfect for couples seeking solitude or a special honeymoon. The house sits on a sand dune several hundred feet from the waters edge. The only thing between you and the beach are palm trees and a beautifully landscaped path cut through the coconut palms. The all-sand beach has a gradual slope to the water. Great swimming, beach combing, snorkeling and scuba diving are just steps from your back door. Our one bedroom cottage is brightly decorated with many furnishings handmade by local artisans. Rustic terra cotta tiles, a wooden ceiling, and ceiling fans add to the charm. In 2010 we renovated the kitchen, bathroom and exterior with all new windows and doors. Inside and out, this home provides the backdrop for a truly relaxing, tropical island experience!

We just returned from our vacation at the Palms. We had such a fabulous time. We were on our honeymoon, and it was the perfect seclusion location for that. Full body tans can be guaranteed. Dont tell too many people, But Double Bay is probably the second most beautiful beach overall in Eleuthera. We dont want the secret to get out, or else it will be much harder to skinny dip next time we go. This property is well equipped and maintained fabulously. You cant beat the airconditioned bedroom for those hot Bahama Days. Dont look anywhere else, just pick this property, and set your mind at ease mon...Did you find this review helpful? This was our 7th trip to Eleuthera, and the first to the Palms. The cottage is beautiful in every way for a couple and we were lucky enough to be just a couple on this trip. Great bed, lots of room, lots of big fluffy towels, good air conditioning, tasteful furnishings, great artwork. beautiful landscaping, wonderful jungle path to the deserted beach, extreme privacy, and so much more made this perfect. We saw one person (once) on the beach when we were there. When we arrived we quickly put on our swim suits and headed for the beach. That was the last time we used our suits for the remainder of our trip. We were in the water at least twice a day. The outside shower was great (Moen fixtures on an outside shower!) DSL WiFi internet made for free phone calls on my smartphone. The phone company's service worked most of the time. There is no television antenna, cable, or satellite. However the DVD selection is amazing if you like classic movies. Property management was delightful. The owner is very easy to deal with. If we ever get a chance to travel again without our family, this will be the place.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Do you want to restore your soul? Pamper yourself in the most rewarding, beautiful and relaxing environment. Palms of Double Bay is truly a peaceful getaway. Do yourself a favor, visit Palms of Double Bay. The beach at Double Bay is mere steps from the lovely home. The entire beach is comprised of pink powdered sand. The snorkeling is amazing. The cottage is fully equipped. The beautifully renovated kitchen has everything that you need. The air conditioning is great for peaceful evening sleep or keep the windows open to hear the ocean. I have been coming to this amazing island for 15 years. Palms of Double Bay is truly our favorite. Grandma DollyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our holiday coincided with the visit of Hurricane Irene. In the days leading up to our scheduled arrival Leigh Ann kept us informed with updates of the effects of the storm. Her cottage suffered only minor damage but we decided to cancel our trip owing to the fact that essential supplies on the island were running low and we intended to travel with our baby. We were impressed with Leigh Ann's honest and conscientious attitude and we will definitely try to stay in her cottage sometime soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We've never been in the "southern seas". Found this place by googeling "tropical beaches" and reading a lot of reviews like this. And reading "Bahamas for Dummies", a surprisingly accurate guide. Never heard of Eleuthera before. No idea what to expect. A little scary. Talking to the owner Leigh Ann in Chicago and later Ann the grounds keeper immediately felt right and comfortable. They helped us with everything from learning how to rent a car on the island to where to get good grouper fingers. If your idea of vacation is to get away from it all you have found your spot in Paradise. Blue sky, miles of unpopulated pink sand, turquois crystal clear water, and a balmy breeze in February...Heaven. It really does look like in the pictures, only better If you're looking for night life, shopping and showing off the new bathing suite go elsewhere. The island is very poor, almost desolate. Hurricanes and the leaving of foreign investors with independence in the 1970's have left many structures including the "Queen's Highway" in poor repair, and there seems to be little means and motivation to change that. The rental property in contrast is pure pleasant luxury, and it feels a little strange to be well off (we're by no means rich). Having said that, literally every local person we met seemed to have a sunny disposition, always helpful and friendly, without any expectations. I guess there are a few more "hip" locations, Harbor Island in particular and a couple resorts, but we stayed away from those, being content with the challenge of which uninhabited beach to explore nextRecommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.

After a week in this charming, updated home we will definitely make a return trip to Eleuthera (and this rental). This 1 bedroom house is perfect for two people. You literally can't beat the location, solitude and proximity to beach front. Most days we didn't see more than 1 or 2 people on the beach, we had it all to ourselves. If you like quiet, low key, beach and sun, this is the place for you. We used the A/C a few days to reduce humidity. Beach chairs and umbrella were key items available. There is no TV which was fine by us, but you can bring all the DVD's you desire if you want to catch up some movie watching. For fisherman, we found bonefish in Savanah Sound a short drive south of Double Bay. All and all, we couldn't have picked a better place.Recommended for: Age 55+.

Our stay the week of Thanksgiving, 2010 was paradise. We found plenty of privacy and seclusion for our 25th anniversary. We lost track of the day and time and returned with great tans. Our days went like this: wake up as the sun rose, sip coffee on the beach. Breakfast on the porch, talk, read, get some sun. Go to the beach and read, walk, and swim. Mosey back to the cottage for lunch, nap, sit out on the porch and listen to music. Back to the beach with drinks, and maybe later go into town for conch fritters. The cottage is appointed with a new kitchen, a/c in the bedroom and kitchen, washer/dryer, and bottled water. Our favorite touches were the local artwork, the big grassy yard, and the outside shower (we used it more than not). There are plenty of nearby options for provisions, and every restaurant we tried served great food at a great value. Don't miss picking up some fresh bread at the caretaker's farm. We're homeaway.com veterans and the reviews are a great tool to determine if you and the property are a good match. Consider the number of positive reviews, and read as many as you can to get a feel for whether the property has what you're looking for. So far as the 1 negative review on this property, I can provide the following feedback: we found the cottage immaculate with everything in working order, and perfect windows and screens. Regarding the road, yep it's a little rough, but if (like us) you'd hike a couple of miles uphill to get some peace and solitude, then the road won't bother you; besides, I have a simple solution: drive very slowly and carefully. And finally, on the trash on the beach, excuse me while I step onto my soapbox for a moment... Trash washes up onto all beaches. We (people) have been trashing our oceans for a few centuries now. Google for "ocean garbage patch" and read about the floating garbage patch that is larger than Texas. The garbage hardly "covers" the beach and leaves plenty of beautiful sand to enjoy. A private beach like this is going to offer you privacy and seclusion, but it's not maintained by the government and big resorts. So if you're going to gripe about the result of what we've done to our oceans, you'll probably prefer Harbor Island--or better yet go to Atlantic City or Miami Beach. If you're like us, you'll pitch in and pick up a few bits of trash and enjoy the rest of the beach. Overall, we loved our stay here and plan to stay again, the sooner the better.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

My husband and I just returned from 10 idyllic days at The Palms at Double Bay. The cottage was perfect for our needs! The villa looks exactly like the pictures, inside and out. Nothing in the description is misrepresented, and you can tell that this is not just an investment property for the owner but a home-away-from-home that they love and take care of. Double Bay (in our opinion, the most beautiful beach on Eleuthera) is steps away from your door, and the walk along the garden path to the beach is a treat in itself. The beach chairs and beach umbrella supplied by the owners were great to have. If you are looking for a romantic, secluded hideaway on Eleuthera, the Palms is sure to please.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

My husband and I just returned from a week at Palms. It was just as pictured. The beach was beautiful and we only saw 8-10 people on it the entire week and those people were far off in the distance. If you are looking for solitude and you don't want to be where all the tourists are, this is the place. The locals were all very friendly and helpful. You can't drive far without seeing more beautiful beaches and gorgeous water. After just a day or two, we were already talking about returning. Loved it! Thanks for opening your home to the rest of us!Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

We have been coming to Eleuthera for a few years and have checked out most of the villas for rent from one end of the island to another. The Palms is a delightful place, spotlessly clean and very well appointed. For the price, there isn't a better equipped 1 brm villa on a better beach anywhere else in Eleuthera. We spent 10 delightful days at the Palms and only wished we'd have stayed there the whole time during our month's stay on Eleuthera. It felt like home and Leigh Anne and family have thought of everything to make your stay there trouble free and truly memorable. There are dozens of books, DVD's, stereo system, a kitchen that would make any chef happy, comfortable furnishings and all the little things one might ever need from hair dyer to sun screen! There are plenty of big beach towels, special beach chairs, a cooler, portable umbrella, snorkels and fins. The BBQ was great too as we preferred to eat in many nights. Mixing Margaritas a snap with a great blender on hand. Life was Good. The villa is very romantic and secluded and the beach, a walkers paradise. We seldom saw a soul around. Double Bay is a delightful central spot and while there are several villas in the area, the Palms has a huge property and we neither saw or heard any neighbours. It was heaven! As for the negative comments from previous tennants, we stayed in the villa right after they did and we were flaberghasted . Eleuthera is a charming little island and as many say "Not for Every One -Thank Goodness we might add, that's what gives it it's charm. Anyone expecting to find everything the same as the USA might be disappointed. No MacDonalds, No big nightclubs, no fancy hotels, just friendly warm folk living there who are always polite and helpful. Just what we wanted a quiet romantic getaway where the biggest decision of the day was what beach to visit or where to fish. Even that wasn't difficult as the beach just yards from the door, was the best we found during our month on the island. There was no garbage - only the odd flotsom that washed ashore from a passing boat and sorry it's not a Club Med were the beach is raked by staff every day, Anne & Clyde are delightful and extremely conscientious as property managers and take care of your every request. No see ums are found throughout the islands- use bug spray and close up at night to avoid them. For fun rent a 4x4 but the villa road in was quite good by island standards. We'll definately book the Palms again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.
