The Orchid Elua is a beautiful, brand new property, completed in 2008! The house overlooks its own tidal pond and the gardens surrounding the property make you feel like you are in a tropical oasis. The house is close to the ocean, a 2 minute walk to the 'secret' entrance for snorkeling in the tide pool and marine conservation area.
The Orchid Elua displays elegance and beauty throughout. All materials are top of the line, granite counter tops, wood and travertine floors. The owner designed and imported all the furniture and is an artist whose paintings are displayed throughout the house. Unique touches from the owner's travels, such as curtains brought in from Trieste, Italy, and objects from Morocco make the experience special. The house has french doors that open onto the back enclosed lanai, perfect for dining, and bathing in the breezy airflow through the house. The second story has spectacular views; each bedroom has its own private bathroom and lanai.
"Sunny" Kapoho is known for having the best weather on the east side of the island; least amount of rainfall, but still displaying tropical vegetation and rain forests nearby. We boast having the best air quality in the world in this little area of the island. One mile down the 'Red Road' is Ahalanui Warm Pond; an ocean-fed 90 degree pool. Further down the road is Poho'iki, the best surfing and boogie boarding in the area and newly renovated park area. Keep heading down the Red Road, arguably the most beautiful road in all the islands. As a painter, we are often seen along the roadside capturing the spectacular beauty of the ocean and tropical vegetation. At the end of the road is Kalapana, where Pele has a nightly viewing of the lava flow.

Why the Owner Chose Kapoho
Since I live in Kapoho of the Big Island, I wanted to invest in the area and provide a beautiful retreat for people to visit, relax, and enjoy this part of Hawaii.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Relaxation while on vacation is something everyone needs and desires. Waking up and looking out the window to beautiful gardens and water is the perfect way to begin exploring the surroundings. Having the ocean and tidepools which provide wonderful snorkeling right outside the door is the first of many unique qualities in this part of the island. We are also on the 'Road Road' which winds along the coast, ending in Kalapana, hosting the only viewing area of the active lava flow.

I live in Kapoho and am a designer and painter. I have a gallery with some artists in Hilo and find this area of Hawaii to be inspirational on many levels.
I am also a yoga teacher and I believe anyone visiting Hawaii will find many opportunities for healing and relaxation. The visual interest and diversification on the island is a fascinating and unique experience.
