This Heritage House @ Canning Creek is located in the Flint Hills of Kansas. It is very quiet and relaxing. The house was built in 1903 and was renovated in 2008. After the renovation was completed the house was opened as a bed and breakfast. There are four rooms w/four baths in the house. You can rent one room or all four or any other combination. The house sets on 560 acres of pasture and crop land.
There are also several acres of wildlife habitat suitable for wildlife viewing and hunting. There is approximately 1-1/2 mile of creek to hike and watch wildlife. There are two lakes nearby one is only 1-1/4 miles away. The nearest neighbor is 3/4 of a mile from the house. there is very little car movement on 1400 road. So it is very quiet and peaceful all day long.
It is a perfect location to just getaway and relax for the day or weekend. Canning Creek ranch is a fully operational working ranch. There are 50 head of angus cows with calves, 30 head of boer goats with kids. The kids and calves are seasonal, there will be times throughout the year when there are no goat kids and calves on the ranch.
Early summer we will be harvesting the wheat and fall we will be harvesting the milo. Then from May to July we will be cutting and bailing brome hay and prairie grass hay.

Year Purchased: 2007
I am a grandfather of 7. I have lived and worked on this ranch since 1951 when my parents bought the home and land. In 2008 I decided to renovate the house and rent it out for others to enjoy this land and house the way I have for the past 58 years.
Why the Owner Chose Council Grove
My folks bought this home in 1951 and I was raised here. I turn it into Bed & Breakfast so anyone could get a taste of good country life. Whether it is just relaxing on the front porch or the deck/patio or going out and helping with some of the ranch work.

It is a place where you can take a walk and enjoy many of the different types of wild life that you encounter on your walk. You can take part in some of the day to day ranch life during your stay, Or you can just sit back and relax on the front porch or the deck and patio.
