Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2008
We are John and Janet Knox of Pylesville, MD. We have three children, Samantha (19), Joey (17) and Cole (14). We live in a very rural area on the Mason Dixon line on a couple hundred acres of farmland and woods. We enjoy dirt bikes, sports, jet skis, fishing, and the beach.
Why the Owner Chose Palm Beach
We visited Aruba in 2007 to celebrate our 20 year wedding anniversary. We had travelled all over the Caribbean, Mexico, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, and had been thinking about purchasing a vacation home, and Aruba fit all our requirements - stable government, safe, beautiful and easily accessible. We looked at houses of all types and prices but knew the minute we saw this one that it was the one for us!
The Unique Benefits of this House
Location, location, location! Everything we need is within walking distance, so we don't have to worry about finding a parking space or being too drunk to drive home from Moomba Beach Club! The house is open and inviting and clean and has everything you need for a relaxing and fun vacation.

Exactly as described! The house had everything that we needed including beach towels, beach chairs, coolers, everything to cook with and so much more. We didn't have a need for anything except our clothes and some groceries. The master bedroom was huge with it's own bathroom and direct access to the back patio. The whole house was clean, comfortable and close to just about everything - restaurants, beaches, shopping! An added bonus was Janet's guidebook which could easily compete with any published travel guides. Following her advice we headed to Arashi Beach (which was gorgeous) and we kept going back to that beach every day of our vacation. Thank you Janet for making us look and act like we're natives even though it was our first trip to Aruba! We will be back to both the island and this house!
Owner response:Thank you, Happy Traveler, for such a nice review, and for the nice comments from our other guests. Glad you had a good time and we look forward to hosting you and your friends in the near future!

We stayed here for a week in May, and it was a great deal for a group of folks looking to visit a beautiful place on a budget. Everything was exactly as described, and Ling and Sons was far and away the best grocery to use. We cooked all of our meals at the rental house, and spent most of our time on the beaches windsurfing. We also got some great fresh fish off the pier nearby for a taste of the local cuisine.
Recommended for:Tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

Our visit was in mid February, 2010. The house and location were exactly as described. The house has large rooms, is very nice, clean, and everything worked. The house is as close as possible to the resort hotels, which is about 2 blocks – 1 block to the main street and then a long block to the front of the hotels, a 5 minute walk. The ocean and the beaches are on the other side of the hotels, so let’s say 3 blocks to the ocean. It’s an easy walk , particularly if you’re not taking anything but yourself to the beach. The beaches are beautiful white sand and all public for at least a couple miles. It’s easy to go directly to the beach without walking through a hotel lobby. Also, there are booths right along the beach to reserve any cruise, boat, or kite you desire.Janet provides excellent detailed directions from the airport to the house. The only negative we have for Aruba is that streets are not marked and most businesses do not show an address, so finding an address is somewhere between difficult to impossible. It’s unbelievable that a country whose employment is 75% dependent on tourism doesn’t have street signs. Fortunately it’s a small island with few roads so it’s hard to get too lost. The lack of street signs is why it’s important to pay attention to Janet’s landmarks. Janet also provides 15 pages single spaced of information about the house, beaches, money, shopping restaurants, and much more, which is very, very helpful – like a personalized, condensed Frommer’s.The pluses for Aruba are many. Consistently warm weather with a nice breeze all the time. Beautiful beaches. Free parking everywhere. Not only are dollars accepted everywhere, but the exchange rate is stable and fair at all retail places we visited, even a Chinese bar where we ate and no one spoke English. No need to visit a bank to get a decent exchange rate. Most people spoke some English wherever we went. Walking is pleasant even in the hotter part of the day due to the arid climate and strong constant breeze, which keeps perspiration to a minimum. We would definitely rent this villa again when we come to Aruba and would also be happy to recommend it to a friend.

We just got home from our vacation and this vacation home is great!! The location is excellent..walking distance from the main strip and many restaurants. It is exactly as described..no surprises!! Janets directions are great..we took a cab from the airport and I was reading the directions to the driver..absolutely every landmark and detail was perfect. There is alot of additional information on Aruba in the house as well. The book with all the beaches and restaurants was a very useful tool. We would definately rent this house again!!

Stayed at this conveniently located lovely property. The home had everything we needed to make our stay very enjoyable. My only recommendation would be to get directions since it was slightly difficult to find at night. Our family agrees that we would definitely consider staying here again.

Everything about this house is perfect - the ideal location, the decor, the cleanliness, the amenities. Our family of 5 (Mom, Dad and 3 college-age boys) vacationed here for Christmas '09 and had a wonderful time. It is close to the beach, water sports, restaurants, shopping, nightlife and casinos of Palm Beach but quiet enough to lie on the hammock on the veranda and listen to the birds in the tropical trees above. I highly recommend this rental property. Feel free to email me if you have questions.

For my birthday this year, myself and three friends rented this house from Janet and John, and we could not have had a better time! We got to the house around 3pm and were immediately impressed with the beauty of the house and the landscaping. Once inside, we knew instantly we were going to enjoy ourselves! There was more than enough room for the four of us, and the house is just lovely. The previous visitors were gracious enough to leave us some Balashi in the fridge so the week started off well with a frosty brew! The house was clean and neat, and the back was very private. We were even greeted by a parrot in the neighbor's tree! Later that evening, after we'd hit the local grocery store (thanks to Janet and John, we had directions) and decided to go out to dine. We really were within walking distance of everything. We ended up strolling to a outside restaraunt called Tango's where we had a delicious and reasonable dinner outside. There were other out door restaraunts next door, nearby kiosks for shopping and outdoor entertainment. On the walk home we came across a piano bar, called Sopranos, which I highly recommend. The singer was amazing, the staff was great and the drinks were strong! We had a great time here and ended up here multiple times. Most of our days were spent on the beaches just a 5 minute drive from the house. We didn't walk to the beaches, because we wanted to take coolers and chairs as opposed to crashing on the high rises. Although, we just as easily could have wandered to Moomba Beach to spend the day! There are some great snorkeling spots a little way up the coast. One day we took the Jolly Pirate Boat cruise, another must see. We were on the ocean from 9am to 2pm with an open bar, barbecue lunch and a guided tour of three snorkeling spots on the island. At the last spot we were able to swing off the ship's rope swing...so fun! Most of our evenings we spent barhopping from Hard Rock, to Smoeky Joes, the Sopranos, etc. Everyone was very nice and we kept making friends every stop! We visited the Marriot Casino one night, but ended up losing most of our money to roulette. There was only one black jack table open, but the limit was a little rich. I tend to not like losing money, so that was the only part of the trip that left a sour taste. We didn't venture to Oranjestad during for nightlife, as our group fails at sobriety and we didn't want to risk driving. Plus, with so much so close by, we didn't see the poi
