We found the house to be more than we expected. It was immaculate and comfortable. The location was perfect. It is on a quiet street but close enough to all the restaurants and shopping. It is also within walking distance to the beach. The owner was extremely helpful and answered all our questions. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this rental.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: We enjoyed having your family as our guests, and hope you are able to come back for another stay. It was a pleasure to be a part of your vacation. Thank you for your kind words about us and our home.

Patrick: We enjoyed staying at your home this winter. We found that the Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda area was an excellent, very afforadable location for the many activities we participate in. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. We especially enjoyed the large lanai overlooking the channel. John and NancyDid you find this review helpful? Upon entering this house you are immediately greeted with a large, comfortable living area with a large lanai and canal views. Two good sized bedrooms are on the right and a third on the left. All of the rooms are clean and well appointed. The kitchen is one of the best equipped of any rental we have taken. The pots and pans, cutlery and china are outstanding both in use and feel. The house is only a short distance from a city beach with tennis courts, boat ramps which open up to Port Charlotte harbor and the fishing that awaits you. Local restaurants are quite good both in Port Charlotte and nearby Punta Gorda. Memorable are Portofino, Chaises, Benivito and the River City Grill. The Tampa Bay spring training stadium is a short drive and Golf courses are plentiful. Highly recommended would be River Woods, Herron Creek, Bobcat Trail and Sarasota National to name a few. Great family spot which I would recommend to anyone. A good value for the money.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you for staying with us it was a pleasure to have had you as our guests. We hope you will stay with us again someday, and appreciate all your kind words about our home. Glad you had a great vacation.

Excerpts comments from guest communications: 2/26/11 Hi Patrick, It's Saturday and we are getting ready to leave early in the morning. Just wanted you to know that we have/are cleaning very well and have washed rugs in bathrooms and at front door. I have cleaned out the frig and have made sure that the supply of tissue, cleaning products, etc. have been replaced. We are closing the house up as we found it... Thanks for letting us use your house Jan/Feb. Our first visit to Port Charlotte has been good - Gus has made quite a number of friends at the park playing bocce. I really liked the stainless steel cookware. Would buy some for home if I could find it... Anyway, thanks again - hope the next visitors are as content as we have been. Mary Reply:Hi Mary and Gus, I am so glad you enjoyed your vacation time in Port Charlotte….Thanks so much for doing the cleaning, Patrick 3/1/11 Good morning Patrick, We had Gus' brother and sister-in-law for one week so they used the front bedroom. Thanks for the use of your home. You all have furnished it so well and all of the kitchen items were super. We had a great stay and enjoyed Port Charlotte very much. If we return to FL next year we would probably want to come back to that area. Again, thanks. Mary 3/15/11 - Refund of Deposit Hi Mary, I would assume you will receive my letter any day now. Would you do me a favor and send me an email that you received the check when it arrives? I just want to make sure you have it. Have a wonderful day. Patrick -Reply: Thank you Patrick. We received the check yesterday! That was fast!!! Missing some things about Port Charlotte - especially the church we found down there. Edgewater Church - UMC is wonderful. Thanks again. We enjoyed our vacation in this great old Florida style home with a saltwater canal right in the back yard. We sipped our morning coffee sitting in comfortable oversized chairs looking at the water as the sun rise changed the color of the skies. One of our favorite moments was to watch a Blue Heron about 3 feet tall glide down the canal and onto our dock to fish for breakfast! The home is on a quiet street and shopping is conveniently located near by. We found the home furnishings to be well appointed in Florida island style and the kitchen fully equipped for our stay. It was a short walk or even quicker bike ride to the beach park for some lounging with a book, watching the birds and dolphin, or fabulous sunsets. Many of our favorite spots on the Gulf Coast were a short drive away, and we suggest you try out all the beach locations that seem to offer different settings, like a beach side restaurant, secluded walks, or great shelling. The owners gave us some great suggestions for near by restaurants and were helpful with making our vacation a memorable one. We will definitely be returning for another vacation and highly recommend this home.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: We are happy that your family had a wonderful vacation in Florida. It was a pleasure having you stay in our home and hope you will return for future vacations. It is our intention to continue to improve the property and accessory items to make it as complete an experience as possible. Check back with us often to hear about our most recent upgrades such as the canoe that we added during your stay that can now be used by all future guests to explore the canals and other local waters, so thanks again for the great suggestion. Be sure to ask about our repeat guest discounts when scheduling your next vacation.

We found the home to be comfortable, with nice beds, and was well equipped with everything we needed during our stay. It had a large living room with a great view of the water. There is a nice beach and park within walking distance, or a short drive to some of the best beaches I have ever been to. The kids loved the area and they got to see a large group of manatee, some dolphins, a group of rays and more on just a short 1 hour boat trip. I would highly recommend the area and this home to anyone seeking a Florida vacation, and a chance to experience the life style that made Florida a destination for people from all over the world. I was amazed while at the beaches how many European languages I heard, it seemed like over half the people must have traveled a great distance to enjoy Florida.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

No we would not recommend this Rental Utilities are extremely high. They exceed the Owner's estimate by almost triple the amount. We have never been charged for utilities in previous rentals but owner assured us his figures would be close to accurate. We are a conservative senior couple. At no time during our stay did we use air conditioning and used discretion with heat even when the weather was cool. Owner was courteous but he exercised poor judgement, his priority should have been his renters. In this circumstance it was his responsibility to inform us immediately, upon receiving the first utility bills. He then should have followed through by making an appointment for a service representative from FPL to come to this rental, find the problem in the air conditioning and heating system and make the necessary repairs. We have all the figures, copies of bills and contract to include receipts to substantiate these facts which resulted in a financial detriment to us. Entire experience was stressful and pictures of rental are very deceiving. Living room furniture is old and uncomfortable, TV, also in living room, is very old and did not work well. Lawns and patio in very poor condition. No lighting in back yard and no screens on sliding glass doors.Owner response: The renters were happy with their stay and commenting they might stay again next year. We had several conversations during their stay in which they commented how happy they were with the home. However they changed their opinion after we communicated the utilities costs they used. South Florida experienced a record cold winter, and unfortunately we can not control nature nor expected such high heating bills. We followed the contracts guide lines requesting partial application of deposit for additional utilities used. Understanding the extremely cold winter we gave the renters additional credit, and we paid for over half the utilities used by renters while trying to be accommodating. We shared copies of the utility bills so they could see exactly what the bills were. Florida Light and Power dispatched an employee to the home on their own to double check the billing it was so much higher than bills previous to the renter’s occupancy. I was notified in writing by FL&P of their findings. We sent our care taker to the home to confirm the TV was operating correctly after it was reported to have a volume issue. The care taker report that it was indeed working correctly and the issue with volume was related to hearing issue. We have since personally confirmed the TV was fully operational. We bought and had additional chaise lounge chairs added at the renter’s request during their stay. We also provided extra lighting for the outdoor grill and side walk in the rear of home prior to there stay. We have added additional lighting at the dock. The lawn is under regular maintenance and is always in good condition, and the renters never mentioned an issue with the lawn. We did experience several hard freezes that killed multiple plants in our yard as well as in every yard in this area of Florida. Our living room furniture was made by a respected manufacturer and is in good condition.
