  My partner and I have been to Amsterdam many times, have stayed in Hotels and Campsites. But this last time was over the Christmas/Holiday period and we wanted something different. We sure found that with the wonderful ARK16. We couldn't have wished for a more "authentic" Amsterdam experience. Like others have previously said, The lovely Annette thinks of everything, even as far as placing a Christmas tree... ARK16 is situated in a very quiet area that is only a few minutes on the bus from Centraal station, and on foot a great walk with lots of shops, bars and restaurants with Centraal station approx 16 minutes away.. We enjoyed coming "home" to the ARK after a long day wandering around beautiful Amsterdam... We will definitely be returning as soon as possible... Thank you again Annette for your wonderful hospitality and for sharing your fantastic Houseboat with us all.

  My wife and I had a wonderful stay for 2 nights here. I wish it had been for more days. You could not ask for more hospitality and better place to stay, We really really loved the area and the apartment. Thanks again and hope to stay again and for longer time.

  Just completed a 2 night stay at Ark 16. An easy walk from Central Station. The Ark was well equipped with basic cooking utensils to make breakfast, lunch or light dinner. Nice surroundings on a quiet canal. If you're here on a Saturday make a trip to the street market just a couple of blocks away. TV with several English channels was a nice surprise.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

  First, Annette was a great host. Very pleasant and helpful. But, the houseboat is in need of some serious repairs. The shower stall was in very poor condition with mold on the shower walls. It needs to be totally replaced.... The furniture in the living/dining area is old with the fabric fraying in many places. For us, the bed was uncomfortable. One other thing. The living area is very small. We also think the houseboat was over-priced. We choose the housebout because the pictures, location and reviews made it seem great, even though we could have chosen a better hotel comparably priced. Needless to say, we were very disappointed.

  Owner response: This is a houseboat and not a house! This makes it so special. It is obvious not your cup of tea and I'm sorry you made an reservation, I could have made other guests happy from the waiting list!

  This is such a cute and convenient place to stay while visiting Amsterdam. So much more "authentic" than a hotel. Staying here makes you feel like a local! It's private, very clean and well kept, plus it has all the amenities you’d have at home including a refrigerator, microwave, dishes and so forth in case you’d like to have a homemade meal and save some money. Annette even had items like bread, butter, jams, Nutella, eggs, milk, cereal, yogurt and more. It’s nice to not need to go to a restaurant if all you want is a small snack. It’s in a great neighborhood named Jordaan, only a few blocks from the Central Train Station, where you can catch a train or bus anywhere in the city. Plus, it’s within walking distance to the Anne Frank House, great shops, restaurants and on Saturday... a wonderful open air marketplace. Easy to get to from the airport by cab (about €30) or train (under €15). If you can split the cost with someone, the cab is faster and easier... especially if you have larger bags. Highly recommended! Thanks Annette!

  Ark 16 is everything we hoped it would be, and more. Clean, charming, comfortable, and with a great hostess. The location is convenient and the houseboat experience was wonderful. A great value! We would definitely stay here again and would certainly recommend it to friends and family.

  Staying on a canal boat in Amsterdam was such a great experience! It was clean, well organized, and a great location. Annette, the owner, was so nice and thoughtful and ever gave us a bottle of wine. Couldn't ask for a better stay anywhere! We loved watching the swans and ducks drift by every morning and night.

  Annette and her daughter took a great care of us. The houseboat is adorable, and has everything you can ask for including a floor to ceiling map. The location is convenient to all the major sites. We walked everywhere and it was never an issue. We stayed for full two days and we couldn't have asked for a better hospitality! I highly recommend it. Sophie

  On arrival it was obvious the pictures did not do this place justice - and they were gorgeous! The boat is a cozy, open and stylish. It was a destination unto itself - a place to unwind and enjoy the view, and eat the delicious food that annette supplied. And beyond the food, no detail is overlooked. Annette is wonderful and I will return to amsterdam to visit the ARK again!
