Newly renovated, privately owned, chalet situated in Pedras da Rainha resort, steps to the charming fishing village of Cabanas de Tavira; the beautiful lagoon (Ria Formosa); a blue flag beach; various golf-courses; and all amenities and public transportation. This immaculate vacation home is surrounded by lovely gardens and spacious green areas. It is a perfect holiday choice for a couple or two couples or a family with children, who might be interested in a relaxing break.
Beach
The chalet is a short five minute stroll from the waterfront where in season a range of small boats offer a 2 minute boat ride, to the long and unspoilt Cabanas blue flag beach. The boat return trip costs are included in the rental price; boat passes are available at the reception desk. The beach has its own cafe bar, changing facilities, toilets and first aid assistance. Affordable parasols, lounge chairs, jet-ski and paddle boat hire are all available in season. You can enjoy a long sandy stretch of beaches, Praia Verde, Monte Gordo, Barril, and the Island of Tavira is only 15 minutes away.
Travel
The Faro airport is only 35 minutes away and the Seville airport is a 90 minute bus ride. 25 minute drive to Ayamonte a border town of Spain/Portugal famous for its calamari tapas. Public transportation buses run frequently from Cabanas to the historic town of Tavira (4km away) where bus connections can be made to other destinations. Tavira dates back to around 2.000 BC, it is a great place to explore with 37 Churches, cultural centre (Palacio de Galeria, Roman Bridge, restaurants and shops to visit.
The Cabanas train station is a five minute walk. Local taxis and car rental operators are also available in Cabanas. For the more active guests there is a local kite surfing school, horse riding, and mountain biking. Daily excursions can be booked locally to all of the Algarve’s main attractions such as nature reserves, castles, markets, water parks, zoo marine, shopping malls, and Spain. Full/Half day boat excursions are available from Villamoura. The Saturday farmers market at the nearby town of Olhao, is a must.

There 5 quality 18 hole golf courses within 5/20 minutes drive from the chalet, making it an ideal location for a golfing holiday.

Why the Owner Chose Cabanas de Tavira
We chose to invest in the Aldeamento of Pedras da Rainha because of the location and the great resort amenities. It became our home away from home where everyone spoke various languages, including English. This made it easy for our children to develop long lasting friendships. Of all the family vacations we’ve taken over the years, we have the fondest memories of our stays in “Casinha Rainha”.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet
The chalet “Casinha Rainha” is located in the eastern Algarve which remains an unspoilt part of Portugal and the little fishing village of Cabanas is a true example of an unspoilt treasure. While our chalet is located in the modern resort, guests enjoy the splendid beautiful clean beaches, the traditional fishing boot crossing to the beach, the open markets, the seasonal festivals, and the traditional folk dances.
Cuisine
If you're looking for fine Algarve cuisine in a prime, beachfront location, then you’ve come to the right place. Cabanas has a large variety of excellent restaurants. Our favourite is the waterfront Pedros Restaurant. They offer a fabulous menu of traditional Algarvian dishes that tourists can enjoy, with a wide selection of wines, and the best sangria, to make your meal that little bit more special. If you wish to eat in, then you must visit the daily fresh fish, meat and vegetable/fruit open market, where the vendors are friendly and more than happy to offer you traditional family recipes. There are two MP supermarkets, one in town and one conveniently, located in Pedras da Rainha Resort. You can also find various local bakeries and 3 butcher shops.

My husband and I were both born in Portugal, but grew up in Canada. Influenced by our parent’s love for their homeland we both spent many summer vacations visiting family and enjoying the lovely beaches in the Algarve. When we were married and started a family we found the Algarve to be the perfect place to take our kids, not only to visit with relatives but to also enjoy their parent’s beautiful birth place. We all love the ocean, the resort and the Portuguese lifestyle. Our children are all grown up now, and still look forward to spending time in “Casinha Rainha” the nickname we now apply to the chalet. There is no question that this little place was the best investment we made for our family.
