This location was super convenient in center of Vail Village about 300 yards from gondola lift. Condo was spacious for 4 people w/comfy trundle bed. Second bathroom a great convenience w/4 adults in house. Only problem encountered was a somewhat overwhelming smoke odor that appeared each of 3 afternoons around 3-4pm for about 2 hours, to the point we opened the windows and doors to assist in clearing. Two of our party were recovering from head colds and were quite affected by this smokiness that appeared to be seeping in through the heating and return vents. Called both owner and condo manager and were alerted that this problem had been problematic before, but only occasionally. Condo manager was out of town on Saturday when we initially called, and, quite cavalierly, suggested we open windows and doors...which we did in the 25 degree weather. Our call to owner sparked condo manager checking things out upon his return on Monday. He found nothing, but acknowledged that this was ongoing problem. Neighbors(owners) across hall indicated they had previously smelled smokiness in common hallway area, but were now noticing in their condo also. As a health professional, I would suggest this could be a problem for any resident w/respiratory issues, and would certainly spark concern about building a fire in the condo fireplace(we DID NOT build a fire during our stay). Requested partial refund for our aggravation/inconvenience, but to no avail.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: We appreciate all comments on our property and strive to make each guest's experience a positive and comfortable one. In response to the guest's call and email, both the building manager and I contacted him in a timely manner with our best advice regarding the issue he encountered. The building manager also verified that all systems within the building were operating correctly. It seems that this guest experienced an usual set of circumstances involving atmospheric conditions and building occupants having fires that caused the situation. While no other guests have every reported this problem, I certainly understand this guest's concerns and tried to assure him that we were doing our best to address his issues. A letter of apology along with the refund of his security deposit and a refund of 25% of the rental was sent to the guest immediately after the housekeepers completed the check out cleaning and notified me that the condo was in good order. I assume the guest wrote his comments before receiving the refund and letter. Again, we are investigating the situation and will make any corrections that are possible in order to prevent other guests from experiencing this inconvenience. Again, thank your for your comments.
