Our three story house is part of a 40 home marina community (called Crosswinds) between Mayville and Bemus Point. It is directly across the lake from the Chautauqua Institute: a 10 minute boat ride or 20 minute car drive. Each house is privately owned with its own yard, with access to the marina's amenities.
It is in a beautiful setting with great views of Lake Chautauqua and the surrounding countryside. A 3 minute walk will take you to the shore, where you can use our sunfish sailboat, 2 person kayak. You can also relax at the community’s shore front cabana, use the 40 foot dock for swimming or fishing, or even dock your boat in our marina – at no additional charge. If you like biking, across the street are miles of country roads.
The house has a great layout for relaxing and having fun. The main floor includes a full kitchen, dining room, living room, and three season room, all with great views of the lake. You can also step out onto a huge wrap around deck to relax, grill and entertain. The first floor has two bedrooms and a full bath, with a walk out patio. The master suite is on the third floor and is probably the most romantic bedroom in Chautauqua. It has a spectacular panoramic view of the lake and a full bath. Great for watching sunsets with a glass of wine.

Why the Owner Chose Dewittville Bay:
We live in Shaker Heights, Ohio and have owned our Chautauqua house since 1989. We have used it as a family retreat while our boys were growing up. Since they finished college, we are traveling and not there as much in the summer. It's location is very convenient to the Chautauqua Institute, but offers more privacy than being directly on the grounds. Fishing in the lake is excellent, and there are many places to drop anchor and fish, relax or swim. We enjoy biking on back roads, which are directly across the main road.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The marina community offers a number of benefits beyond those of our home. The tennis court is 50 feet away. A three minute walk down to the shore gives you access to most of the community amenities: a cabana with shore front lounging, a protected marina and a dock for swimming and fishing. The community members are great, and some of our best friends are there.
