I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Hildreth house. I was there for a week in late June and was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at the property. The fenced yard was much larger than I imagined and was perfect for my two dogs. The only downside is that there isn't much outdoor lighting. However, there is a small fenced area in the back of the house which I used at night so I could keep a close eye on the dogs. The small fenced area can be opened up to the rest of the yard so I did that during the day so the dogs could take full advantage of the entire yard. The house itself was comfortable and the location was great for exploring the different areas of . Harpswell as well as Brunswick and Bath. I even ventured over to Reid State Park Beach in Georgetown and Popham Beach in Phippsburg. These beaches were each about one hour away but well worth the trip. I only rated this rental a 4 out of 5 stars because of a few minor things. First, the house was not as clean as I would have liked. There were some dead bugs on the window sills, cobwebs and a few dust bunnies behind doors and in corners. The kitchen counters, kitchen sink, appliances, toilet, bathtub, bathroom sink, dining table, furniture and bedspreads were all very *clean*. The only issue regarding cleanliness was with the floors and window sills. Another minor complaint is that the way the furniture is configured makes it difficult to sit comfortably with a laptop connected to the ethernet cable (there isn't wifi). Lastly, many of the windows in the house do not open. There are some window fans that work well so I was able to stay cool. Even though I didn't rate this place "excellent" I would definintely stay there again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners.

We had a wonderful weeklong stay with our dog, and this house was ideal for us. The location was convenient for sightseeing and town, yet private and quiet, and the ample fenced yards were safe and super pet-friendly. We especially loved the kitchen and outdoor dining - a real home-away-from-home!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
