We stayed here for 8 days at the end of May. Upon arrival, we got lost; and a really sweet old lady helped us out. There is a boulangerie across the street, a grocery next door, but my personal favorite were the shops on Rue Lepic. When we finally got to the apartment, everything went smoothly. Jean-Noel sends you detailed information on how to retrieve the key, plus directions on appliances are pasted on the door. We managed our bags up to the fourth floor, so the climb's doable. The apartment is quite large for Paris and space was perfect for the two of us. Apt Rome has high ceilings, making the space cool. We even had to turn on the heater the first night! The kitchen is equipped with every possible utensil you will need for meals. There are some guidebooks and a book of maps that literally saved our trip--a) from being lost and b) from being robbed by gypsies (after all they only want money, not a book) The big window opened finally, but no matter how hard I pulled, the little guy just didn't budge. The information and pictures are accurate. During our stay, the sun never directly shone in the apartment. Perhaps the only thing that put a bit of a damper on our trip was the shower. That first night, the shower clogged, so we had to stop every two minutes and wait for the water to drain. Also, I opened the window to let the steam out, until a moth flew in, then I couldn't close the window. Next morning, I went at 7am to get breakfast (don't do that. Shops aren't open) and called poor M. Joubert at 8am about the shower. I probably was his alarm clock! Being unsure, I asked if we could speak in English, and the guy was nice. We ended up speaking French after all, cuz it was easier on us both. They fixed the drainage, but the shower is a tiny block with curtains, so when the hot water runs, a partial vacuum pulls in the curtains, making the space even smaller. The apt IS quiet, although one evening downstairs blasted music for hours while we were trying to nap. Someone must have told them off. Lastly, the morning of departure, I noticed a spider on the bed, and that freaked me out. Perhaps if the sofa bed had been higher off the floor, this wouldn't have happened. Overall, great Paris experience.

Apartment Rome, Rue de Douai
Apartment Rome, Rue de Douai
My daughter stayed in Apartment Rome on Rue de Douai for two months this winter, and despite the close proximity to Boulevard de Clichy and the racier nightclubs of Paris, the immediate surroundings felt safe, and the building itself is secure and quiet. The apartment is within easy walking distance of several train stations, grocery stores, bakeries and every other amenity that a visitor might need, and also a pleasant and interesting stroll away from the Montmartre area, which is fairly touristy, but still completely charming. The apartment is represented accurately on the VRBO site: the kitchen is small, but well equipped, and the living area is quite spacious. It was clean and tidy when my daughter arrived, and everything was in good working order, including the heaters, which turned out to be very important during her December/January stay. This was our second interaction with InBeau Paris – we are now on our third – and I can’t stress enough how straightforward and pleasant it has been to deal with Jean-Noel, InBeau’s main contact. He is organized and trustworthy, and can be relied upon to act quickly to refund deposits or to make arrangements when plans change, all contributing to a wonderful peace of mind for the visitor.

The listing description and photos for this flat were very accurate. Flat cleanliness was good. Email and telephone communications with the property manager were very helpful and cordial. Entry and departure went smoothly with email instructions being very thorough & complete. Flat is located 50 steps above street level. We found the location conveniently located to the Blanche and Clichy metro stops, making most Paris sights accessible within 20-30 minutes. The Montmartre area including Sacre Coeur is easily accessible by walking. There is an abundance of bakeries, grocery and restaurants located nearby. Within a couple of blocks is the Pigally area which is a seedy area, but caused us no issues.

I felt very safe and comfortable
Hello Jean-Noel! I have nothing but positive reviews for your vacation apartment and my experience in Paris overall. I came to Paris as a solo traveler and, having never travelled on my own, was a bit nervous and cautious. I found your place was quite pleased with all the details and photos provided. You were both also very prompt with your responses and were helpful answering my questions. All this was very reassuring. Booking your apartment was easy and efficient and the directions/guidelines you provided were accurate, clear and easy to follow. The apartment was exactly as described on a lovely, quiet but very accessible street in beautiful Montmartre. Paris is very compact so it was quite easy to walk to the different museums and monuments around the city (except Versailles as it is outside of Paris). The only suggestion I would make to travelers would be to book longer stays and in week spans (as opposed to single days) as the price would be more worthwhile. I would definitely recommend renting a vacation apartment and this one in particular as I felt very safe, comfortable and was able to enjoy a more authentic experience (I think) by renting an actual apartment rather than a hotel. Thanks again for everything! Crystal

it is a perfect place to experience the romantic part of paris. the location is perfect, good and easy subway connections, but also a lovely area to explore on foot. the apartment itself is small as far as american standards go (350sf), but much bigger than any hotel room. it has everything you need if you would like to get a feel of what it is like to live in paris. the apartment is extremely clean and functionable. you may find that the shower is a bit small, but i got used to it quickly. i usually prefer glass shower walls than a shower curtain, but it did not ruin my experience. i find it affordable and reasonably priced. the owner of the place is just a phone call away if any troubles or urgent needs. a good bistro nearby called"gi'raffe" (say hi to raffael for me:). a couple of nice bakeries around for your morning baguette and a convenient next door convenience store. overall, a lovely place to enjoy montmartre, see dali museum, or visit melancholic montmartre cemetery. would recommend this place to friends, definitely!
