Flamenco presents itself as one of the last undiscovered gems in the Caribbean. Explore Flamenco's charming neighboring town
Away from the beach, there are several notable things to do near your Flamenco vacation rental. El Polvorin Museum chronicles the history of Culebra and is best explored when you return from Zoni Beach. The charming (and only) town on Culebra is Dewey. Easily walkable, it doesn't take long to fall for this colorful little Caribbean haven. While you're in town, swing by Jiribillas BBQ which does Caribbean food properly. Lip-smacking pollo asado and papas fritas can be bought to go and are best gorged on with a cold bottle of beer and the sunset back on the beach.
Walk hand-in-hand along Flamenco's beaches
It'll come as no surprise that most of the activities on the island are centered around the sea. Dragging yourself off the sun lounger is terribly inconvenient, but those who make the effort can go snorkeling in some of the healthiest coral systems in the Caribbean. When you don snorkels and flippers, you'll be treated to close encounters with all manner of colorful marine creatures, including turtles. If you're looking to head into the deep, there are several scuba operators who'll take you out to sea. Culebra is actually an archipelago made up of several islands, many of which can be discovered by kayak or chartered yacht.
Flamenco is heaven for bird-watchers
If you pack your binoculars and point them across the grassy interior, mangroves or beaches on the Culebra Archipelago, you'll be surprised at the number of bird species you can spot. There are more than a dozen seabirds that nest nearby including the red-footed boobies who can be seen doing funny mating dances in the trees. In the cays near your Flamenco vacation rental, you can spot more than 40,000 mating pairs of sooty terns. Most of the wildlife encounters are found in the waters surrounding the islands. Lobsters, Spanish mackerel and oysters all vie for space and food in the rich ocean.

The nearest airport is in Cyril E. King Airport (STT), located 25.3 mi (40.7 km) from the city center. If you can't find a flight that works for your travel itinerary, you can also fly into Culebra (CPX-Benjamin Rivera Noriega), which is 3.6 mi (5.8 km) away.
