  My girlfriend and I wanted a weekend away for some relaxation, surf, sun and beach and we got all that and more at this fantastic home right up from the beach! The views were great (for constantly checking the surf conditions), the hot tub was perfect for cozy warming sessions and the house overall was charming and very well stocked and kept. The outdoor space is perfect for sunny lounging and the indoors with the big leather couch and fireplace was perfect for watching movies and eating bbq'd meals. We couldn't have asked for anything more and will definitely make this our 1st choice for future stays in Bolinas! Thanks Vanessa for everything and look forward to setting up a future visit soon!

  I went here for my anniversary with my wife and had the best time. The location is incredible with plenty of outdoor space offering a really nice jacuzzi and another sweet spot a few steps up their little hill with spectacular views of the ocean. The house itself is really cosy with a fireplace and beautiful details which creates a great ambiance. The host, Vanessa, was extraordinary nice and offered us the the whole experience for free because of a mix up more than a year ago but we will gladly pay next time we come back since it's worth every penny. Bolinas itself has a very cool vibe and offers a great restaurant option in Coast Cafe and a funky old western saloon bar called Smileys. People here are really friendly and you get the feeling that this town is very special and somewhat timeless.

  My husband and I love the Point Reyes region for the hiking, backbacking, wildlife viewing, and the oysters. Oh, the oysters! We decided to forgo the backpacking this time and stay instead in the quaint eclectic town of Bolinas to celebrate my 30th Birthday with some special friends. The Red Herron has a wonderful deck on the house level where we bbq'ed and lounged in the sun in the afternoon hours, then we headed to the upper deck in the evenings with our wine in hand for the incredible sunset view over the Pacific Ocean. What a view! After the sun would set, we would break out the s'mores, light the fire, and star gaze up into the open sky! Our crisp morning walks to town for a cup of jo was possibly my favorite pass time. We would get our coffee and let the puppies run on the beach while we sipped our coffee and watched the surfers. Overall, our trip was just really relaxing. The cottage was so comfortable and Vanessa (the owner) was so easy to work with. I highly recommend a getaway to the Red Herron. You won't regret it!

  Stayed here with my boyfriend and it was totally adorable, in great condition and we felt right at home. Very comfortable bed, nice tub for baths, and fireplace was great too. The hot tub is amazing! It is in a really pretty area with plants surrounding it, we could see all the stars in the sky, so different from where we are in the city! Close to town and beaches. A great retreat, and Vanessa is really sweet and easy to deal with. We will be back. :)

  We stayed at the Red Heron for 2 nights over the weekend and had a fabulous time. The house is cute, well appointed, lots of great and varied outdoor space and an easy walk to town on one side and Agate beach and hikes on the other. We never bothered with eating out because it was so nice to sit outside at the house. The owners are super easy to deal with and very responsive. We can't wait to go back!

  My partner, our dog, our 2 friends, their dog and I just spent the best weekend at the cottage. We were blessed with good weather on the first day. The deck and view were put to good use. But even when the fog rolled in, it wasn't a problem. If anything, it made the hot tub, fire pit and fireplace that much more enjoyable. The proximity to town and the beach is a plus. Our friends raved about the Tempurpedic mattress topper and the comforter that went with the sofa bed. We had such a great time. And we look forward to coming back.

  To begin with, it is clear that the owners have made an attempt to have a nice place with tasteful artwork and a clean bathroom with a new clawfoot tub. However, there are some glaring problems with the place. When we signed the contract, it said that we would not be reimbursed if there was a power outage due to a storm, fair enough, but when there was a storm and the power went out, we couldn't find a flashlight or candles and it is pitch black in the country. Furthermore, there is no internet access nor telephone and cell phone use is tenuous out there. We had to huddle, in the cold dark around the fire-place, for which we had to bring our own wood. The most glaring issue is the living room couch, which looks nice, but has a serious mold problem. The stench from the mold makes the whole cabin reek and even though we attempted to air the couch out, we were unsuccessful. The mold is a serious health hazard and we left feeling unwell. The hot tub looked likes another moldy candidate, so we avoided it. There was not one hanger in the place, so you couldn't hang up your clothes and the supposedly "full kitchen" had a couple of not very clean pots in it. Everything in this cabin is tiny, tiny kitchen sink, tiny bed, don't stay there if you are tall and like to spread out a little. We were unlucky with the weather, it stormed most of the week, which forced us inside with the mold. When we could go outside, the decks were green and slimy, the pillows on the outdoor furniture were wet and smelly and the fire pit was completely water-logged. We probably should have contacted the owner sooner, but we needed a vacation badly and had always had a good time in Bolinas in the past. When we did tell the owner about our experience (we did not ask for a re-imbursment, we just wanted her to know about our experience) instead of apologizing, she was defensive, patronizing and said that she hadn't been to the cabin in a while. It's our understanding that when you rent a place, you are guests of that place, even if you are paying guests. Furthermore, she asked us not to write a bad review! She was sure that she could convince us to write a good one, which makes us wonder how many of the other reviews she has influenced. If the owners write the reviews, then review-writing is redundant. So, don't stay here if you care about your health, like to spread out a little and expect common curtesy.

  My boyfriend and I stayed here for a quiet weekend and had the best, most relaxing trip ever. Bolinas is super laid back with scenic views and great surfing. The cottage made a perfect base to check out the surrounding areas. The fireplace and hot tub was icing on the cake. The cottage has everything you would ever need and the owners are awesome. I highly recommend it!!!

  Stayed here with my girlfriend and another couple over the New Year's holiday weekend and everything was fantastic. I would definitely stay again. Great proximity to town, wonderful view from the upper outdoor area (with a fire pit which we used every night) and just lovely all around. It is a bit on the rustic side, in that it really does feel like a cabin, but we liked that. The hot tub is fantastic too. Vanessa and her husband went way out of their way to ensure that our stay was everything we hoped for. We will definitely stay again.

  I can't say enough about how charming and wonderful this cottage was. Such a romantic gettaway for my boyfriend and I. The cedar hot tub, wood burning fire and cozy bedroom were absolutely wonderful. Close into town and in a cute neighborhood for walking around, I highly recommend this place. The owners were an absolute dream to work with, they made sure our stay was perfect!
