Newburyport house description
Our house is located in the middle of an old tree-lined, family neighborhood with the Merrimac River and a launching dock at the bottom of the street. Up until this summer, the house has been owner occupied and is fully furnished with all the necessities and then some. The backyard is shaded with large trees and can be enjoyed from the first floor deck off the kitchen or the second floor balcony off the den.
A 15 minute walk through a family and dog friendly neighborhood or along the river will lead you to the historic seaport village of Newburyport. There, one will find countless fine specialty and antique stores, restaurants, an old movie theatre, a live performance theater, a boat dock, river walk and a park on the river with live outdoor entertainment. There is also a bike and walking trail and the ocean is a four mile drive or bike ride away. Whale watching tours and deep sea-fishing excursions are offered from downtown locations and there is a Maritime Museum as well as many other historic buildings and homes.
Within a couple of blocks from home there are two public parks with playgrounds, a baseball and a soccer field and tennis courts. One park sits on the river and has a public docking ramp. Plum Island Beach, Salisbury State Beach and the Parker River Natural Wildlife Refuge are all just a few miles away as is the Plum Island Airport.
Two miles in the opposite direction of town there are two large grocery stores, drug stores, gas stations, a K-mart, the C and J bus service to Logan Airport and South Station and direct access to Interstate 95. And two miles south is the train station that offers service to Boston's North Station where you can arrive in downtown Boston within an hour and avoid the driving and parking hassles of the city.

Property provided everything we could have hoped for given the make up of our group. High chair for the toddler, right number of bedrooms for adults, and a great back yard for all to enjoy evening BBQs. Location of house was great for walks to town, and access to convenient shopping. Newburyport is a great base to explore the Cape Ann area, and is a very quaint and homey community. We loved it. Only thing I would improve on is exterior aesthetics. House put us off at first (in need of a facelift), but the interior more than offset this. Home was well furnished, kitchen had all the utensils anyone would need, and the BBQ, laundry facilities, and large screen TVs were a bonus. We'd go back

Owner response: The exterior of the house is in the process of a facelift. Shingle by shingle, side by side the outside facade is being replaced. The yards, both front and back have been upgraded with the addition of 100 plus plants and trees. The newly laid asphalt driveway, which can park more than four cars, has been edged with granite cobbles. The front porch entrance has mahoghany decking and newly installed wrought iron hand rails. We appreciate our guests comments and continue to respond and improve our property. We aim to please.
My girlfriends and I stayed for a class reunion getaway weekend. The owner was so kind and such a pleasure to work with, readily available to answer any questions. This home is easy to find on a lovely street and is centrally located in this beautiful and walkable town. We absolutely loved this home - we felt so comfortable there; it is spacious (such a spacious home but with a warm, cozy feeling) and very clean and decorated with special attention to detail and a pretty new kitchen, beautiful bathrooms, and comfy beds! This home is everything depicted and more! Also, plenty of off street parking for multiple cars. There's so much to do in Newburyport, but on our arrival day we loved the house so much we just relaxed with snacks and drinks on the deck and then took a nice stroll down to the waterfront. I highly recommend this home to everyone. Great home, area restaurants galore, waterfront/beaches, even an art house movie theater in town called The Screening Room. Enjoy!!!

Fun with friends
I met 5 old friends for a reunion weekend. The house was very comfortable, very clean. Not much of interest in the immediate neighborhood, but it was an easy walk to downtown. All the beds were comfortable but I wouldn't recommend the sleepsofa. The dining table on the back patio just outside the kitchen door was a great place to hang and talk.

Owner response: Agreed... that the sleeper sofa was not suitable for adult sleepers, no support and quite uncomfortable. Kids yes, grown-ups no. We have replaced it and the new sleeper is very!! comfortable. Also, the house is located in a residential neighborhood of an 'historic seaport village'. At the bottom of the street, 2 blocks, is the Merrimac River. Beautiful. With a park, a playground, a docking ramp and the boardwalk that leads downtown in less than 15 minutes. The houses in the neighborhood are not cookie cutter track homes. No two houses are the same. They are old and renovated and most of them very lovely to admire when walking to town or just around.
We were a family group of 7 from Texas visiting NBP this past November for my brother's wedding and this house couldn't be more perfect for us. The owner's were great and that made everything easy and stress free. We felt right at home (minus the weather), we had all that we needed at our finger tips. The location is great with beautiful places to see in all directions. Walking distance to anywhere. We will be back to visit (soon we hope) and this house is where we will stay!

Great place for traveling families
Great place for traveling families
My husband and I stayed in this house with our 3 kids, ages 12-15, for a long weekend. It was great to be able to bring our dog, too! Everyone enjoyed this house; we all had our own rooms, the kitchen and dining areas were beautiful and well-stocked with supplies, and the family room was a special bonus full of games, puzzles and books. The owners were friendly and helpful, and everything was clean and well-kept. The street is quiet and the location is very convenient to all the area attractions. We ate at Michael's Harborside one night, and the food, atmosphere and service were excellent. The only detractors for this house are that the third floor bedroom suite is accessible only through one of the other bedrooms, and there is not really much of a yard. We would come back again and stay longer next time.

Owner response: Since this family came for a week-end stay in the summer of 2011, the second/third floor stairway has been renovated. The third floor master suite with its full bathroom, bedroom alcove and sitting/TV area, is now accessed via French doors, up a golden hardwood-tread staircase. So pretty and inviting. It now has its own entrance and is privately enclosed with the doors. The bedroom that used to have the staircase in it now is also separately enclosed and has a closet in place of the staircase. As well, the yards, both front and back have received a lot attention with over 100 new plants, a slate and granite pathway and newly seedly lawn.
Labor Day Weekend
Labor Day Weekend
We have a group of eight friends from high school who have been getting together every summer since we graduated to catch up and enjoy a weekend together. This house worked out perfectly for us since we are now a mix of friends and couples. It was a great size, and everyone had plenty of room. It was walking distance from the adorable town of Newburyport and about 15 minutes from the local beaches. The owner was very nice and accommodating. Would definitely love to rent sometime again.

Hockey Week In Boston
Hockey Week In Boston
I manage a youth hockey team and we chose to stay in this Newburyport home. We needed a space that could accommodate 6 teenage boys and 4 fathers. We were playing in Haverhill, but wanted to be closer to the beaches in MA and NH. This location was PERFECT!!!! The home was exactly as described. The second floor was perfect for the fathers and the loft was perfect for the boys. We also needed a washer and dryer that could handle our group and this home has one. The kitchen was very nice for breakfast as we ate most lunches and dinners out. The owner of this home is a very nice and very accommodating person. She really cares for her quests and it shows in her home. Our boys favorite late night restaurant was Famous Pizzeria Deli and Ice Cream about 4 blocks away. Michael's Harborside restaurant was the nicest place for dinner, but a little pricey. Taffy's is a great little breakfast and lunch diner in downtown Newburyport. Choose Agave for Mexican and Giuseppe's for Italian. We visited Salisbury beach and Hampton beach and the boys loved Hampton beach. We will definitely stay at this home again next year!!!!

Owner response: We enjoyed our hockey group very much and are very happy that they were so satisfied with their stay~~look forward to a repeat visit from them next summer. Our house is a great home for families and small groups or girls/guys getaways. The 3rd floor can serve as a master suite or a dorm for kids. And our location offers countless activities, restaurants and outdoorsy things to do. We like to offer you a comfy place to stay, and send you home rested and happy.
