Yes, we chosed this cottage due to and only by the photos because there was no review yet. We wondered why noone before us was writing a review. Today, our arrival day, we got a more precise imagination of why. By entering the cottage there was an ongoing deeply toilet-smell you normaly know by entering one of the tiny toilets of fast food restaurants along the highway. Even with 3 fan operating continiously and all the windows wide open the toilet smelling unfortunately was not expiring. Some window mechanics are rusty and will break when turning or opening. The main kitchen furniture for storing the kitchen machines was dirty and full of leftovers from caffee and toast. From the view of a house wife the kitchen is poorly equiped. Knifes, only 2 existing, were not really cutting. No can opener for tuna. It was a luck that we had our swiss survivor kit ready. No wood for cutting salad or other stuff. Some forks and knifes for eating were looking brown, rusty. Definitely the house needs a new painting, a whole renovation would be better. Mosquito-protection is out of working due to big holes in it. Coverage for the bed and pillows are cutted. Yes, the distances to the tourist attractions are close. But for the same money you will have better condos, appartments in Punaluu or Naalehu - for sure. We tested it in the same season, some days ago. The indoor Wifi/WLan is the quickest we had until today on Big Island. The cottage offers the most space we experienced on Big Island. The car is parked right at your entrance stairs. The surrounding is very green with exotic flowers. Don't think you are in the real Pahala Plantation Cottages. In Pahala there is another place with that name and much more reviews including stars. So, don't be confused like us...Recommended for: Adventure seekers.
