This is not just a house with a lake view... it's a house ON the beach at an unbeatable location. MANY new updates have been added for this year.
The Setting...
We are lake level on a private beach (for neighborhood residents and guests only) with panoramic views of the lake. This is the only rental home in the area that is truly at lake level on a point. That means you can enjoy the sights, sounds of lake living and take in the fresh breezes while relaxing on the deck of this home. Bring your family or friends here to have fun and create lasting memories.
The New Updates...
In our second season, new and returning guests will enjoy many interior and exterior updates. Most importantly, central AIR CONDITIONING has been added! The wood siding and decks have been painted in a beautiful sage color, and we've added a new door and windows on the first floor. We've opened up the landscaping in the back deck area for more space to relax, recreate or for children to play.
The interior updates include: new colors with fresh paint in all rooms paired with new nautical fabrics for the furniture; new bamboo blinds, new larger dining table and TV plus A/C. We are prepared for any heat waves with A/C in place! We have also added a SECOND TELEVISION for your viewing enjoyment in the bedroom. Our new furniture arrangement creates a very spacious and open feeling.
Our remodeling goal was to incorporate the tranquility of the beach into the home using coastal colors and furnishings.
Fresh updates coupled with the prime beach location make this a real coastal living paradise on Lake Erie.
Living the Lake Life...
Our location is perfect for water sports. If you are looking for a place to kayak, windsurf, kiteboard, or paddle board, bring your small craft and launch from the beach. Larger boats and jet skis can be launched from the North East Marina just 2 miles away and anchored during the day right in front of the home. If you prefer beach sports, try beach volleyball at the adjacent Freeport Beach - just a short walk.
Life is better at the beach, so plan a relaxing visit here and enjoy living on the lake or some lake shore exploration. This home has many attractions in a close proximity. Two of the more popular activities in the area include fishing and winery tours. You can enjoy all seasons of the year and find something for everyone in your party. We are short drive to Chautauqua Lake, Peek-n-Peak, Niagra Falls, Erie, Presque Isle State Park as well as Presque Isle Casino & Race Track, Splash Lagoon, Waldameer, Malls (Millcreek, Galleria, Grove City), Spas (Bella, Beauty & Beast). We have great local dining and pubs for all palates. Book a fishing charter or take the Scenic trail way and enjoy a ride along the shores of Lake Erie. There are also hiking/biking trails, farmers markets, and antique shops. Our close proximity to N.Y. and OH offer many additional exciting adventures. Tour the local Amish country and shops while you are here.
World class fishing awaits you on the beach directly in front of Sunset Beach House.
Fishermen: This home is located right next to the mouth of 16 Mile Creek. We are in Steelhead Alley. No need to compete with hordes of fishermen at Elk or Walnut Creek. Fish the creeks or call for my Charter recommendations.
Local wineries are open year round (excluding major holidays) for tours, tasting and many entertainment opportunities ( examples: Music in the Vineyards, Movies in the Vineyards) and other seasonal wine events. My personal recommendation is to check out the Barjo Bons wine club monthly events at Courtyard winery!

This is the only vacation rental in the Sunset Beach cottage neighborhood.
-- Lake views from every room in the house
-- At lake level -- not on a cliff/bluff.
-- Typical Great Lakes shoreline. Changes with the weather. Ungroomed. No sand replenishment at Sunset Beach. Sorry, no palm trees or coconuts :) -- but a swimmable, walkable beach.
-- Close enough to hear the surf 24/7, feel the breezes, and take in the freshness of the lake breezes.
-- Direct access to an ever-changing, natural Lake Erie shoreline with sand, stones, driftwood and whatever treasures Lake Erie delivers to us.
-- Front row location at Sunset Beach, perfect for sunset views.
-- 16 Mile Creek, a popular fishing creek separates Sunset Beach from Freeport Beach. Cross the Creek at the shallow end near the Lake to get to Freeport Beach. Creek course changes with the weather.
-- Freeport Beach is an adjacent public beach with sand replenishment, playground, lifeguard (seasonal), sand volleyball courts and snack shack (seasonal).
-- Nestled in a quaint, cottage community.
The HOME...
-- 3 bedroom and 2 baths
-- First floor bedroom and first floor bath
-- 2 Queen beds, 2 twin beds, 2 foldaway twin beds, 1 Queen sized air mattress. Comfy for six people, but sleeps up to eight!
-- Second floor balcony spans the beach side of the home and is accessed by two upstairs bedrooms. Think morning coffee, evening cocktails, sunset viewing.
-- First floor patio.
-- Front deck...think reading, relaxing, your own space!
Something for everyone...
Whether relaxing with sunset viewing, sunbathing, winery tours, and shoreline walks, or lake swimming, body surfing, skipping stones, treasure hunting, and sea glass finding, everyone in your group will be entertained at this lakefront location.
Persons with limited mobility can enjoy the lake views from the home and decks. The beach requires good mobility for access. Access to the adjacent Freeport Beach requires crossing 16 Mile Creek which is normally ankle to calf deep at the lakefront, but can be deeper when we have rain. Driving distance to Freeport Beach for those who want to bypass the creek is one mile.
It's not unusual to see bald eagles fly over the lake hunting for fish and return to their nests nearby.
Launch your kayak or canoe from the beach in front of your house or larger boats from the North East Marina 2 miles away which has reasonable rates for a boat slip or parking. A few steps away, you can fish 16 Mile Creek, especially exciting during the spring and fall steelhead migration.
North East, PA is Erie's Wine Country, a refreshing small-town getaway from busy lives. Known for its quaint downtown, miles of vineyards and beaches, many wineries, fruit/vegetable farms, and a growing artist community -- this is the good life. Relax and enjoy the lakefront. Grill out and eat at your picnic table. If you want to go out for meals, there are a number of family friendly restaurants closeby (Freeport Restaurant is 0.4 miles, town is just 2.5 miles with Boston Bean Cafe, the new Rizzo's on the Park, Johnny B's, two pizza places). Explore local wineries, enjoy a massage at Bella Day Spa, sightsee, take a horse trail ride, treat your family to local produce -- pick-your-own options available or buy from one of many local farm stands. Downtown North East shopping district now features our new Grape Country Marketplace where you can shop for locally produced goods and taste wine, and where the new Rizzo's Restaurant at the Park has now opened. Tajana Roehl's Photographic Gallery is a great place to buy a postcard, notecard, or wall art to remember your visit.
Erie, Pennsylvania -- with Presque Isle State Park, Waldameer Water & Amusement Park, Erie Zoo, Splash Lagoon, the Tom Ridge Environmental Center and Presque Isle Downs & Casino -- is a 20-35 minute drive depending on destination. New York State, also closeby, offers Chatauqua Institution, Peek 'n Peak Ski/Golf/Spa, Panama Rocks. A bit farther, Niagara Fall is about 2 hours, doable as a daytrip.
This is a nice family setting -- a quiet family neighborhood built around enjoyment of the lake and creek... a nice place to relax and unwind, but close to town for errands, exploring or a indulging at Bella Day Spa or a winery (two wineries within 1.5 miles, many more locally).
Upcoming Local Events: see event listing at www.nechamber.org and check back frequently.

This home pleasantly exceeded our expectations as it was so peaceful and refreshing. Staying directly on the beach in this home was a surprising bonus. This house sits at lake level on a point facing the lake and so we were able to enjoy the lake with a 180' view and easy beach access right out the door. WE LOVED walking directly off the deck and straight out to the lake and not having to travel or pack to go the beach. There are two decks on the front of the home and one in the back. The deck on the top was our favorite because we could walk out of the bedrooms onto the deck and enjoy coffe at sunrise and take in the beautiful sunsets with a glass of local wine. It also made for great sleeping as we could keep the screen door open and enjoy the sounds of the lake all night. It was so peaceful and relaxing we hated to leave. We toured around North East and spent some quality time refreshing at Beauty & Beast with facials and pedicures while the guys went fishing. We had wonderful sunset happy hours while grilling fish on the beach. The guys loved having a grill right on this private beach. At the firepit we made mountain pies and smores and told fish tales. Being so close the wineries was another major bonus. We would highly recommond this home for its incredilbe beach location, cleanliness, and amentities for all seasons. We loved the new updates to the interior and exterior of this home. They are fabulous and really make it stand tall. We will definitley return and plan a longer stay to be able to fit in more beach time plus touring time.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We recently enjoyed this great one of a kind prime beach house and can't wait to return. We were so surprised to find that this house was located on lake level allowing us to walk right off the deck a short distance to the lake. This is a must see type of quality beach house to really appreciate. We had a sneak preview of the remodeling upgrades including the fresh new paint colors in all the rooms, along with the new coastal furnishings. The new updates make this beach house a cozy, relaxing private beach get away--relatively close to home. It's a hidden treasure for sure and in all of our travels this rates as a five star beach house. We loved watching the natural beauty of the lake and creek out front and how it can change with the weather. We did have one storm that was fun to watch roll in while sipping wine, listening to tunes and playing cards with our family. It's amazing how the lake can raise up and change the shoreline features. The best part of the storm was beach combing afterwards and finding all kinds of interesting treasures basically in the front yard beach. For the most part, the terrain was a gradual slope with one small shelf to the lake. The terrain was a tad bit challenging for my 82 year old uncle who uses a cane, but for the average ambulatory beach comber it was true paradise. Our older family members were able to sit on the deck and feel as if they were at the waters edge with us due to being at lake level. The views from the two decks on the lake side and from the interior living area of this home were panoramic in every sense. The sunsets were breathtaking and became a daily ritual for our family. We enjoyed being at the beach and touring in North East and surrounding areas too. This was a great location for our family as the beach lovers could stay at the beach and the adventurous members could go fishing, tour wineries, go to Chautauqua Lake, Peek-n-Peak, catch live music etc. The kids loved Splash Lagoon and walking to Freeport beach and playground. We made family adventure time walking the short distance to Freeport Restaurant & Tavern to enjoy awesome breakfast and dinners. The close proximity of these options provided a nice balance for all members in our party. We would recommend this beach house as a five star location and home without reservation. Our family had a delightful time and can't wait to get back to Sunset Beach House for more quality beach time on Lake Erie.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This lodging was as described and very clean. Megan and Lynne were very accomodating and extremely friendly and helpful. They want to be contacted with any questions or issues and make you feel that you are very important to them. My mom and I had a great time exploring the lake right out our backyard! She is 88 years old and enjoyed every minute of her stay. The beds are very comfortable and we slept like babies...especially listening to the waves on the Lake. Heaven. Freeport Restaurant and Boston Bean Cafe are our favorite places to eat. We will be back to NorthEast soon! What a great little community with awesome friendly people.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

It was harvest time for grapes , a very light smell of the grape was in the air. This added to our visits to several of the wineries in the area. The cottage was as expected for Lake Erie rentals. It was a little dated , but in good order. The people renting the property were very nice and helpful. The cottage is lake front , but between it and the lake is a stream(Sixteen Mile Creek) that must be waded to get to the lake. Great for the young and able , not so for the older and less able. It was a good experience .Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children.

We had a wonderful time staying in this house. The views were unbelievable, the water was sooo warm! We enjoyed the fires by the water and cooking out everyday on an open fire. The house was very cozy and everything was in working order. The breezes were amazing and watching the ducks and cranes come by the water every day was great! The house was clean but sometimes the outdoor deck and chairs could use a power wash but other than that it was Great. We are already planning to return next year!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family stayed at the cottage for 4 nights. The first night was miserable! What the cottage description doesn't tell you is that there is NO air conditioning. It was so hot, my husband had to sleep on the floor since it was the coolest place in the cottage. Typically, not having air conditioning would not bother me, but when there is no lake breeze, in the middle of summer, it makes for a really uncomfortable stay in the cottage; especially because only SOME of the windows work and SOME of the windows don't have screens, so if they're open, you're going to get chewed alive by the bugs! Also, the kitchen is truly not a "full" kitchen as we were advised by the hospitality booklet to not use the dishwasher or garbage disposal. When you have a large family staying at the cabin (8-10 ppl), the last thing you want to be doing on your vacation is dishes! The overall condition of the cottage is okay. It could use some updating, and although it may sleep 8-10 ppl, I wouldn't comfortably recommend it for that many people as there is really no eating/dining area and the living room is quite small. Two of the days during our stay it rained and when it came time for dinner, we really had no where to sit and were just scattered throughout the kitchen/living area with plates on our laps. The positives, you are directly on the lake and the views are beautiful! I just feel that it is over priced for the overall condition of the accomodations. I understand you are paying for the lake waterfront, but to have windows that don't work, screens that aren't available for window utilization on hot days and kitchen appliances that are broken is just not acceptable when you are charging such hefty rates for an "okay" cottage.Owner response: Air conditioning, dishwasher and garbage disposal added! We love hearing from our guests. The compliments are always affirmation of our hard work to please our guests. The criticisms, while hard to hear, only serve to make us better. We especially appreciate hearing from our guests during their stay if we can somehow improve their stay. Our goal is to have the home in order when the guest arrives. However, if there is an issue, we are local and can react swiftly to issues. While we heard only positive comments from this guest during her stay during a record-breaking heatwave, we have listened seriously to the complaints and have addressed ALL of the issues so that future guests will not have the same concerns. We have updated our listing to reflect these new features: air conditioning on both the first and second floors, dishwasher, and garbage disposal. We have also reduced the maximum number of guests allowed to eight. Now, we can offer this prime beach location with the added comfort of air conditioning and help of a dishwasher!

This property is very nice! The house was clean, linens and bedding very comfortable. The view is FANTASTIC! Once we got there we never left! We cooked, grilled out, watched the amazing sun sets and had a bon fire each evening. We walked the beach every day. VERY RELAXING :-) We had 8 in our party, I think 10 would be crowded unless you slept outdoors or had small children that would be ok sleeping on the bedroom floor in a sleeping bag. Please feel free to email me with any questions. We will be back next year.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I stayed here in early June. What a great place. Very "kid friendly" ( dead-end road, great park within view, great beach, great fishing in an adjacent stream that feeds into the lake and the BEST easy access to the lake in all of PA - water level !!!). This place is in a very quiet neighborhood and is very clean within easy driving distance to town. We'll be back for the Cherry Festival in July or the Wine Festival in September both are great local events that I've been to before!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This is an amazing place to be, right on the water! You can hear the waves hitting the beach and the sunsets are captivating. The view from the rooms in the cottage are stunning. It has all the amenities needed to have a great visit on the water/beach. Very clean and fresh with a great restaurant within walking distance. We took a lot of walks on the beach and found many treasures. We toured some of the wineries nearby and enjoyed the calm and peaceful atmosphere staying by the water/beach.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About: Hello, I am Megan, a lifelong resident of North East, PA. I have grown up along the shores of Lake Erie and continue to reside in this area. My family has owned property on Sunset Beach for several generations over many decades. Thank you for taking the time to view my bio and my Sunset Beach House. Words alone cannot accurately describe the hidden beauty of this unique property. My family and I have many fond memories at this home. My goal is to provide a quality coastal home for other families or friends to enjoy. I am a local owner/operator with a committed focus on customer service and satisfaction. I am just a phone call away should you need anything during the course of your stay. A little bit about myself and my interests include: family, traveling, horses, hunting, fishing, swimming, kayaking, biking, gardening, growing pumpkins and Indian corn.
Why Erie:
This beach has special meaning, even though I have traveled a great deal to many tropical beaches. Lake Erie is a constant source of natural beauty as it ebbs and flows with the seasons, weather, fish and wildlife. The sunsets are a sight to behold as they bring a slice of heavenly serenity across the horizon line of the lake. I have many, many great family memories here and I trust you and your family will also have fond memories upon staying here also. This is a wonderful private neighborhood with easy beach access.
I purchased this property because of the location on the beach and the incredible views. The panoramic views are a result from being located on beach point at lake level. When I am here, I feel the peaceful tranquility of lake... through the beautiful sights of nature, sunsets, calming sounds of the waves, and cooling breezes. This is a wonderful spot for swimming, kayaking, beach combing, fishing and birdwatching. We have eagles and many other bird species to watch, along with deer that come to the lake to drink.
If you love true lake living you will indeed love this property. This property is like fine wine, it gets better with age. I have recently done extensive remodeling to both the interior and exterior to enhance all of the appointments of this luxury beach house. Location plus luxury make this a win-win beach house rental in all seasons.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Sunset viewing from our home is a daily activity.
The sunsets are world class and panoramic. We eat all summer meals outside at our picnic table on the beach, weather permitting. We enjoy our locally grown produce because they taste better when you buy them freshly picked at the farm stand less than a mile away! We have many fresh farm markets to choose from. We like to sleep outdoors on the deck or beach. Life at this beach includes beach treasure hunting (there's more to find when the beach is private), swimming, sunbathing, and not having to pack a bag to go to the beach.
