Year Purchased: 1987
About the owner: bob friedlander, retired radiologist
sammy friedlander, retired scientist, harpist, fifer, cook lately of the SV Bowdoin.
Why the Owner Chose Castine: We found this property after searching the coast for the right place. When we found it, it had been on the market for several years but no one was interested because of the 1950s vinyl sided double wide house. But the view was unbelievable and to this day workmen never fail to comment on it. So we bought the property and Sam redesigned the house and cottage. At first it was our summer place. Then 9 years ago we moved here fulltime.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage: What we love about the place: It's quiet on a private dirt road yet only 1/2 mile from town. You look out the windows to an always changing scene as the tide ebbs and flows. Birds, ducks, seals and the resident bald eagles complement the views.
