We have a very enjoyable stay at the cozy cottage in Grand Rapids. It was a perfect for us as our activities were west of the down town area, in close proximity to the cottage. The cottage was well appointed with everything we needed, had a huge fenced in back yard for the kids to play, and a wonderful loft for several of them to sleep. The dining and living rooms are an open concept and were spacious enough for our eight family members. The decor is a charming 70/80's stile with a more modern flare. Although we didn't have much time to enjoy the details of the house, there is a nice fireplace and a fully functional kitchen to make us feel at home. The only downside is that it is the old style home with only one bath that is a jack/jill bath in between the bedrooms. This is not a problem for a family like ours, or for a girls get away, but might be an issue for some. This cottage is 15 minutes from down town Grand Rapids, and less than 30 minutes to Lake Michigan. The proprietor was very easy to work with and very accommodating. If we are in need of a cottage in Grand Rapids again, we will certainly use the cozy cottage again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Rachel's lovely home. We were going to be in GR for a homecoming of sorts - our first trip back after moving out of state last year - and wanted to spend some quality time with friends. We had considered staying in a hotel downtown but this was so much better - we could hang out at the house, make dinner, relax, and just enjoy the company of wonderful friends. The house provided our out of town pals with a place to stay that was far mod comfortable and far less expensive than if we'd gone the hotel route. Rachel was very pleasant to work with and the house was absolutely delightful - no complaints or issues at all. We will absolutely stay here again.

This house is eclectic, charming, adorable, instantly homey and so unique. We had 9 of us stay here and every single person said at one time or another "I want this lady to decorate MY house" or "I want to live here" . I am a picky woman in cleanliness and organization (typical A type) but this house met and exceeded everyone of my high standards. I could go on and on about the amenities, decor, comfort and serenity that this house has. Close to downtown, but not too close. We had professional table massages by fireside and a relaxing herbal sauna in the sunroom all organized by the homeowner. I will recommend this experience to anyone and everyone. If you want to treat yourself and your group, this is the house to stay at.

This place was the luckiest find for a St. Patrick's Day girls' get-a-way weekend! Rachel was an absolute sweetheart, making sure our stay was perfect and exactly what we all needed. We each had our own comfortable bed to sleep in and no "hotel" feel. The cottage is adorably decorated with beautiful antiques, yet nothing feels untouchable or cold. Rachel is a licenced massage therapist and the cottage has it's own massage room, and let me tell you, she is fantastic! She came right to the house on Saturday morning and helped us unwind from the stresses of everyday life. The only two things that were even a small muttering of a complaint from my girlfriends had to do with the showerhead (very little water pressure) and the coffee pot (wish it were a Bunn or something a little more updated). Another tip, if you're planning on doing a little bar hopping like we did, call the GR Hopper...they picked us up and dropped us off at the end of the night for just $7 each! We plan on making the GR Guesthouse our yearly getaway, can't wait to return! Thanks, Rachel!

5 high school friends - reuniting for a special weekend in Grand Rapids - celebrating our 60th birthdays. Rachel's guest house was the perfect place for our reunion. The house is cute as a button - eclectically furnished - and very comfy. We felt at home and all agreed that it was a much better choice than getting hotel rooms. It's in a very nice neighborhood - just a few minutes from downtown - and 30 min's to Lake Michigan. Rachel is a great hostess. We would all highly recommend Rachel's guest house for your next stay in Grand Rapids.

              Owner info

              Year Purchased: 1999

About the owner: I have put a lot of my heart and soul into this place and love the vibe. When I am not traveling, or working, I love to visit my Westside Home. Grand Rapids is large enough to have all the things you expect from a big city with out a lot of the confinement. You can drive out of grand rapids 10 miles in any direction and enjoy the raw untouched beauty, awesome rivers/lakes, and green space Michigan is well known for. I have lived in many different areas in Michigan and I would say the westside is the best side. This home is an extention of my heart and I hope you will feel welcome as a fellow traveller of this world when you walk through the doors.

Why the Owner Chose Grand Rapids:
Grand Rapids is close to everything and everywhere you want to be in West MI. Some places in MI require a half hour drive or more to procure grocerices. I used to live Up North and loved the natural beauty but began to see the limitted access as a disadvantage. Where the Grand Rapids area offers the convenience of Michigans second largest city and a bounty of enviromental purity I value so much. Just a 25 mile drive to Lake MI and all the perks of city life. What more can you ask for?

The Unique Benefits at this Bungalow:
This home is in the perfect location. Right off the main drag that takes you directly from the city to the lakeshore. Direct access to Interstate I96, Highway 131, and M-45(Lake MI Drive). So you can have a direct route downtown, or to the lakeshore. Take advantage of the massage room and book a spa treatment while you stay. It's like your own private B and B without the nonsense. There is a gym and a coffee shop right accross the street and a killer diner with great breakfast and burgers within walking distance.
