L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue farmhouse description
Our just finished Beautifully Restored 18th century farmhouse with original features situated on the road between Avignon and Apt, the perfect place to explore from is now ready to let.
We have a small rose and lavander garden at the front of the house with a shady terrace.
Once in the front door we have 2 reception rooms one with TV. and WiFi is available through the house. There are a selection of English books so if you have finished yours then you can exchange with one from our shelves if you would like.
The second reception room leads through to the light and spacious kitchen dining area.
The kitchen has a range cooker for those who like to cook, a dishwasher for those who do not like washing up and an American fridge with ice dispenser to keep the drinks cool in the hot Provence sun. The fridge is large enough to cater for all your requirements to keep things cool.
From the kitchen there is a small but adequate shower / utility room with washing machine and toilet, we have provided an Iron and Ironing board if you require.
Out from the kitchen there is a north facing terrace, perfect for soaking up the afternoon sun, and when the sun goes down, we have very little light pollution here so star gazing or satellite spotting is super.
The terrace has a gas BBQ and adequate seating for 10 diners. we have a parasol for those who prefer some shade. The terrace has a fig tree that fruits yearly so if you like figs and they are ready you will have a good supply. We also have 4 chickens and some chicks and so from time to time we will have eggs also. In the back garden we have an old cherry tree so in may there are cherries to eat as fresh as can be.
Upstairs we have 4 comfortable bedrooms with super kingsize beds, with crisp sheets we have fans in each room if needed . One of the bedrooms has an ensuite shower room. Also situated on this level is the main shower room decorated with travertine marble. The bedrooms have been decorated in soothing colors and have been kept simple. We have covered parking to keep the car cool.

Beautiful,ideally located farmhouse in Provence
Beautiful,ideally located farmhouse in Provence
For our first trip to France, a friend from Lyon suggested we look for a house near L'Isle sur La Sorgue -- a charming town near where her family spent their summer vacations. We found Kate's lovingly restored 400-year old farmhouse on VRBO. But when we arrived we found the pictures on the site did not do the house justice. The rooms and backyard are bigger than they appear in the photos. At the max, we had seven people in four bedrooms using three bathrooms and all were very comfortable. The renovation is new, the appliances are new and functioned perfectly, and the decor is quite handsome and comfortable. Even thought there are two living/sitting rooms, we spent most of our time in the large light-filled kitchen. The farmhouse is very close to D900 and that made it very easy to take day trips to Avignon,Arles, Gordes, Fountain de Vacluse, Goult and all the other places in Provence you might want to visit. The nearby towns of Petit Palais with its lovely boulangerie and Saturday market and L'Isle sur La Sorgue with its shops, restaurants and Thursday and Sunday markets were frequent destinations for us too during this two week stay. Finally, Kate could not have made us more welcome or been more helpful. Our band of travelers were not very fluent in French and Kate -- a Brit who speaks French well -- helped us on more than one occasion with translations and reservations. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Year Purchased: 2005
About the owner: Originally from the UK,we bought this 18th century mas late 2005 and we moved here in spring 2006, we fell in love with the place. We took on an enormous renovation project, we were from a back ground in Antiques and Renovation and it has been a labor of love. We continue to work in the antiques trade and also manage restoration and property projects. We have connections with local estate agents, antique dealers, international transporters and can provide storage if required. We can also organise french/ english translation for the antique fairs if required.
Why the Owner Chose L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue:
In the heart of the Luberon within easy distance of all the main features of provence, historic towns , cities and villages. Antiques galore including the international antiques fairs of Isle sur la Sorgue twice a year in Easter and August. Outdoor persuits walking, bike riding, wine tasting, gouramde excursions, the beach is just over an hour away and touring around provence by car is also a pleasure. We are 7 km from the source of the Sorgue river where you can hire a canoe to go down stream towards Lisle sur la sorgue it is super under the shady trees by the river.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
This 18th Century house had not been touched scince the 50's and so we were able to put our own stamp and loving touches to the property. Packed with original features, the house has a slight cottage feel about it but is spacious and light. We have lots of outside space with a BBQ for alfresco dining. There are country views from the rear terrace. We have off road parking and are within short walking distance of the bakery through some orchards, also on a saturday morning and thursday night in the summer there is a local produce marketjust 10 mins walk away.
