This is your chance to stay in Salida's "butterfly house". With its inverted A frame roofline and large round window, it's one of the areas most iconic houses. We think our house is special and I’m sure you will too. The architecture is unique. There’s attention to detail throughout and exquisite mountain views from every window. Overall our home s 2300sf.
The kitchen is huge and fully equipped. Enjoy a private setting, on an acre, with nearby homes above or below tucked into Pinion Hills. You will be in the foothills looking across the beautiful Arkansas River Valley to the majestic Rocky Mountains, rising up from the valley floor to the great Continental Divide.
The upper level has high peaked ceilings, a wood burning fireplace, large flat screen HDTV and superb views from large windows. A modern style and open floor plan is balanced against an eclectic mix of furniture styles and periods. Rich mahogany floors and oriental rugs form the base. In the dining area the mountain views are framed by a grand round window, 5ft in diameter. Opposed to this a smaller circle window centers a 16 ft long galley kitchen with golden toned granite countertops and rich natural cherry cabinets. This kitchen is made for cooking and comfortable entertaining,. It's open and interactive with the living and dining areas. There is a diner style booth at one end of the kitchen and a half bath at the other.
A private office is opposite the half bath and it's the only other separate room on the upper level. This room has a large table desk, a couch and chair where you can work or read or just relax in quiet.
Just outside the upper/main level there is a patio carved into the back yard hill. You can prepare your dinner on the gas grill or hang out while looking across to the Collegiate Peaks from the patio. The front of our home has a deck woven into the hilly landscape with Adirondack chairs for sipping coffee or a beer. It's great for sitting in the sun watching as it moves across the valley and sets in the range with the most 14000 ft mountains in any county in North America.
There are 3 bedrooms and beds for 6 persons. The master bedroom is at mid level with a huge window revealing a panorama of the foothills fading to the Sangre de Cristos on the horizon. It has a walk-in closet joined to a full tiled bath with both tub and shower.
The ground level is a few steps down and has two comfortable bedrooms with large windows with the same expansive mountain views to the south. Across the hall is a full bath featuring a limestone tile tub/shower. A full size washer and dryer are in the laundry room next to the bath. At the end of the hallway is an interior entry to the two car garage (not for car access by guests).
